Derek was born and raised in Rhode Island and moved to California to attend college in Sacramento. He then went to Law School in San Diego where he received several awards including the highest grade in his class in the areas of Torts, Evidence and Wills & Trusts and being named an Editor for Law Review.
Client was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Instead of paying the claim, Client's insurance company rescinded Client's insurance policy claiming misrepresentations in the application for insurance. Metts Legal sued the insurance company and successfully forced them to pay Client's insurance claim.
