I was close by working on my errands, when I suddenly passed by this consignment store. And I don't regret my visit. I love it here! Great service and friendly workers here.
So many various of items to browse through - clothes, shoes, jewelry, cards, candles, buttons/pins, tote bags.
There are two floors of this store to explore. Well organized display of clothes and other items. Pretty clean fitting rooms to try out some clothes.
I ended up getting a few items from here.:
- vintage cardigan with floral design sleeves
- faux fur vest
- Michael Kors purse
- birthday cake pin

I go to Knimble both to sell and buy clothes and shoes. They are discerning in terms what clothes they choose, and I appreciate knowing that the quality of clothes on the racks is high.
They also sell some fun, interesting eclectic new things - cards, jewelry, puzzles, etc. I bought my favorite mask there. :-)
I always stop by to see what's new when I am near Lake Merritt. And there's plenty of parking behind the store, which I really appreciate.

Make sure you write a detailed inventory of your items before you drop them off to sell. I did, and realized hours later that one of my items was missing after I unpacked the bags and checked my list (they'd "passed" on everything, so nothing should have been missing). When I went back in to inquire, was met with only "we'll check the cameras and get back to you, but we don't have it..." needless to say they didn't check, or get back to me. It was not a valuable item, just a tank top, but that's shady. This is my second bad experience selling here- the

I intended on posting this about a year ago, but now I have even more positive feedback!
I just have to say that this little store is a gem hidden in the Grand Avenue thoroughfare.
If looking to sell clothes they give you the best price of any resale clothing place I've ever been to it's a small establishments I don't expect him to take everything but they take a variety of items based on season and their customer base.
I have both sold and purchased many many things here and have never been disappointed. The most important thing I wanna mention here is the staff. I have found

They are hit or miss. I loved them but bought a necklace that wasn’t cheap. It broke the next day. I had the card I used but lost the receipt and they wouldn’t take it back. That bothered me! I spend $$$$$ there. You treat your regulars properly. Just my thought. The clothes again are hit or miss, but they do have some other fun stuff.

I work for a hauling company. I did a job for a designer brand. I was having trouble selling items so I thought... Oh wait I can go downtown San Rafael to that clothing store Knimble! Wrong....
When I arrived they threw all the brand new clothes with tags in a bag shoving them in aggressively without care.
Next they discuss they give you 30% of the price they list them for. Which in this case was definitely under priced as these items were never worn, with tags.
I would not recommend it as a plan A, B, or C. Much more of a last resort...

Full disclosure-I haven't been to a vintage store in years. But a friend of mine who lives it the area and shops there took me with her to check it out, and I ended up buying a cute dress (that I probably won't wear until the weather warms up again, which will be a while) and an air plant for my condo. I tried on other stuff, and was surprised at their quality, but alas, they didn't fit. I just might be inspired to try vintage shopping again and go next time I'm in the area!

I've been coming to Knimble for years and love the store. They have great gift items at a reasonable range of prices. I love their posters, magnets, and jewelry. Plus they have soy candles! Great sales rack, and they get enough items that every time you go there will be new items. I have also sold clothes, shoes, and purses to them and it's pretty quick - great way to earn extra cash (or use for store credit!).

I would rate this place a 0 if I could! They masquerade like they are a neighborhood store but then care more about their aesthetic in the windows than they do about customers. In the window I saw a pair of slides as I was on my way to the nail salon. I walk in and ask if I can purchase them and I'm told about a "window policy" where I will have to wait two weeks to buy the shoes. Why would someone wait two weeks to get shoes that are literally right there? I said I was just looking for some sandals because I was wearing sneakers and as I said I was going to get a mani pedi. A very unpleasant experience as a seller.
I brought in four pairs of jeans and was told to wait for "about an hour" because I was fifth on the list. After waiting for well over an hour (paying for expensive street parking), the very curt and unfriendly woman pulled out the jeans one by one, put them back in the bag, and said they would not be able to purchase any of the merchandise.
I have absolutely no issue with them not taking the clothes. My main issue, however, is asking folks to wait more than an hour for less than 10 seconds of analysis/review to ultimately be denied. Why not

It's a very casual chic place. They have selections more for younger people and you can find really good deals here. I've stumbled into this place passing by to dinner.
The prices aren't unreasonable and a lot of their items are relatively new. I like that they have a variety of styles and mix of knick knacks. I notice that there are definitely more girl clothing then guys for selection.
They are also pretty organized which is a big plus to me for places like these. I haven't sold anything here but i'd like to. If I write an updated review, than it would probably be

As a plus size woman, buying clothes can be a very unfun experience. But not here! I always find something beautiful and affordable....often a whole outfit including shoes and a purse!
I love that my skinny friends can shop here too and have just as much fun and luck!
I've only sold here once and it was a pleasant experience. I was able to shop while the buyer looked at my stuff and she bought almost everything. That never happens to me at other places and I actually made $80 in store credit as opposed to $10-$20 at other places. The only downside was the weird feeling I got when seeing

The buyer was an unfriendly person who passed up on a lot of Nike, Reebok, and LuLu Lemons as well as 7Seven, J Crew, and Jane jeans, all of which were purchased within the past two years. She also wouldn't let me leave the store to grab a quick bite and said if I did then I wouldn't be able to ask questions about their decisions. On top of that, after she told me their buying policy I started to remove the scarves I brought that were in my bags (since they don't buy scarves) and she told me to leave them alone and let her sort them.

I've been following them on Facebook for awhile now and came in for the first time today. It's a very cute store! They have a nice selection and most of the used items looked like they were in great condition reasonably priced. I think I spent most of my time looking at the knick knacks though. I really liked all the accessories and home decor items they have. I'll be back!

I'll be heading back to return one of their new/unworn items, and then that's it for me. I haven't been back to Knimble in a year or so, but my friend wanted to go, so the 4 of us went. I remember the staff there not being very welcoming and this time they were just, how shall I say, stank. I'm a buyer at Knimble, but buying or selling you should be courteous and appreciative of the community that's supporting you--"old Oakland" and "new Oakland." I won't be coming back because aside from the unwelcome committee, they track you in that store like

Love thrifting more than going to traditional malls for the price and variety of styles. This is hands down 1 of my favorite places to shop in Oakland. I like new pieces in my wardrobe every season without breaking the bank and selling/trading here is a great way to do that. I always find something here for myself and nifty gifts for others.
If I could, I would have every piece of jewelry sold here. It's unique, handcrafted, and support local artists or growing businesses/communities abroad. Shopping while supporting a cause or contributing to economic development and reducing your carbon

Ugh. Thinking of this rotten place makes me seriously gag. They "do not" apparently have an "inventory" of their items on a database in 2016. Basically, they cannot search by filter the items in their store by size, brand or color. How would you organize anything in your store if things cannot be categorized? And the staff here are most unhelpful. If you call during business hours, the four people on duty will most likely not pick up; you'll be met with an answering machine. Do not put ANYTHING on hold because if you wanted to call and make sure it is still on hold, or

I really loved shopping here. But in my distraction of a good time with a friend I didn't realize that one of my items that was marked 40% off was charged full price and when the sales lady asked if I wanted a receipt I said no thank you (environment and want going to return anything!). I don't know if it was on purpose, I'd like to think not, but the experience left a poor taste in my mouth none the less

When I 1st moved to Oakland, Knimble was a staple in my Saturday afternoon stroll on Grand Ave. I'm the last few months the clothing selection has dwindled and the new staff they have is overall quite rude and judgmental.
The girl who works there with the dyed hair, currently pink, has always been awesome. There also used to be a black girl there with braids that was equally awesome/amazing.
My experience today was the worst I have experienced there. After checking my bag when I got in, I went up and shopped. After getting great help from the girl with the pink hair, it was time for me

Ok now I'm being a baby but... as an update to my previous whine..
Just for fun and to prove to myself that knimble staff judge the clothing based on the appearance of the individual. I asked my much younger friend to take the exact same shirts in to Knimble a week later. They offered him $60 for 8 shirts (and they didn't even take the beautiful $150 Kenneth Cole shirt! Doh!) He said no and we donated them across the street!
