Its charter is based on the principle that, by listening carefully to our clients and working collaboratively with them and our design team, we can create inspiring, transformative, sustainable places for people to enjoy. PLA tailors its design process to the client's needs by offering each client two different types of design processes and customizing them as needed. During the all-important listening stage, we aim to understand all we can about the client's requirements and project goals.
This includes interviewing client representatives and key stakeholders and devising a program or wish list that serves as the basis for the design and is referenced as a resource during the design process.For more involved, challenging projects, we offer a four-stage process that is especially well suited for clients who want to dive deeply into their projects and arrive at something unique, original, and comprehensive in design and detail.

Our projects range from small to large but are unique in the special design opportunities they present. We aim to understand all we can about project goals, clients' needs, and the integration of the latest architectonic, ecological and environmental concepts and technologies into the fulfillment of a client's particular project requirements.
Dwelling goes beyond occupying living space. It implies a commitment and connection to a place, people, family, and community. It contributes to forming the identity of residents and their communities. As such, we aim to create dwellings that reflect the very personal qualities of each person, family, and community, and to design places that allow our clients to live their lives in harmony with their aspirations and needs.
PLA believes that the introduction of new and advanced sustainable concepts and technologies offer designers unparalleled opportunities in creatively fusing the technical and performance-based advantages of these new systems with poetic and aesthetic possibilities. Our projects seek to find new ways of seamlessly integrating technology with new creative expressions for shaping built environments.
Since its inception, PLA has worked on urban design projects that build on a site's rich history and ecology. We do so with the aim of making places for people and communities. Central to our award-winning designs is an understanding of the deeply rooted qualities of a place, its landscape, and communities that inhabit a site.

The PLA team has a combination of commitment, enthusiasm, talent, and diligence which is rare and wonderful. I had the unpleasant opportunity to have a professional relationship with Paul and I feel bad for people that work for him. The only reason the project was completed at all is due to the people he has tricked into working for him. If you are thinking about working with this firm, don't. Instead, just take all that money and spend it on vodka, drink it all in one night that way you might get some small amount of the value you have to throw away to work with PLA.

Despite the very odd review of PLA by "Jack Slinger"(?) and his vodka, we'd like you to know that we had a very positive experience with Paul Lukez and his colleagues in the design and building of our beautiful, award-winning, house. Paul and his talented team worked with us from the selection of our building site, through our choice of engineers, materials, and contractor, to move in. Check out our house at Paul's website.
