At this point in my life, I'm 78 years old and, I must say, more and more feeling my age. It seems like not too long ago I regarded people of this antiquity as hopelessly ancient, to say the least! After some false starts such as teaching art, and trying to make a living making sculpture, I settled on making jewelry as a way of making a living and being an artist at the same time.
We had the good fortune to come to Williamsport, Pa. About 1999, guided by a vivid dream to simplify my life (yes, it really was like that) I closed the store and had a sale "to the bare walls" as they say. Read excerpts from customer's letters who have been so kind as to express their appreciation for the pieces I have made for them.

My intention is to make rings with diamonds that are beautiful, comfortable to wear, and that stand up to daily wear over the years. Thus, you will notice that all the diamonds are set in full bezels (the rim of metal that surrounds the stone) made of platinum, which protects the stone from chipping on the edge, holds it safely, and presents a smooth contour which does not catch on clothing.
The Wedding bands in the pictures below are ones that I have custom made in the past. I have no "made up" stock to sell. As with many of my one-of-a-kind pieces, I consult with the customer about the style, metals and stones to be used, so that the bands compliment the engagement rings the customer has chosen.
The materials used in the making of jewelry, often referred to as "noble", are remarkable for their resistance to degradation, whether they are the metals of gold or silver, or the natural gemstones formed deep in the earth, with their amazing color, brilliance, and hardness. The most remarkable thing about practicing the art of jewelry making is the simplicity of it all.
To experience "other art", my wife, who is a potter, and I have particularly been drawn to Italy, starting with travel first to Greece on a Fulbright in 1964, and then to Italy after that year. At this point I would suppose we have traveled to Italy over 30 times, wandering together to look, to draw, and to absorb the rich legacy of a culture which reaches back to the Stone Age from the present day.
In this section, you can read excerpts from customer's letters who have been so kind as to express their appreciation for the pieces I have made for them. Of course, I am extremely grateful for their comments, and for their permission to use them here. I received my ring this morning and words fail me.
