A childhood fascination with gems and minerals led him to making his first ring for his junior high school teacher- an opal he had polished in a silver contemporary setting. From shopping mall shows, to art fairs, to retail store fronts in Ann Arbor, Chicago, and New York, his work has stayed on the cutting edge of modern jewelry, without imitating others and always influenced by the world around him.
Although most of his work is custom made to order, this website is a cross-section of the latest designs. Matthew uses the most exotic stones he can find, many of you have never seen before, and he sees his work as giant sculpture miniaturized into wearable art. Even the largest pieces are still comfortable.

Artists who first created, then recreated, a priceless heirloom: Matthew Hoffman is an artist in luxe metals & gems; his collaborator Kris Keller a technician & total pro. Over the years we commissioned several pieces, one in particular we consider an important family heirloom. Then it was lost. Theft? Carelessness? who knows. I was bereft. What I do know is that without a perfect photo, recreating this piece would be very difficult. We had little more than a fuzzy image & our memories. Matthew Hoffman and everyone at Ten did an amazing job designing our engagement/wedding ring set (both women's and men's rings). We have really unique wedding rings that we will now have for the rest of our lives, with matching small sapphires. We also brought him a family diamond that he set for the engagement ring. Gorgeous. We have gotten tons of compliments on our rings.
