I have been coming to this auction for years but was very disappointed today. On 2 items I was interested in the auctioneer (Patrick) checked an index card in his pocket and then started the bidding way higher than the item warranted and then when there were no takers he called them “sold, number 99” (which I know to be the house number). Obviously these were items noted on the index card as owned by the auctioneer company and there was no intention to sell the items to the highest bidder but rather they were pulled from the auction when it quickly appeared that a premium price would not be

For years I have gone to Martins carriage auction. I have both bought and consigned items. Paul and the company have been forthright in their presentations of vehicles and try hard to get a good price for their consigned merchandise while also finding a fair buy for those purchasing items. I understand and appreciate that some items have reserves to protect the seller, and the auction team moves carefully through items for sale in the main auction ring. Thanks guys for your efforts.
