Services
Access Counseling Services provides a diverse range of mental health counseling to the community. We offer individual evidence-based counseling sessions for everyday life obstacles and intensive therapy for those not so common mental health concerns for our Adult and Senior Populations.
Recently we responded to a need in the community by adding a bi-lingual therapist that will allow us to meet the needs of the Hispanic mental health population as well.Our psychiatrists, nurses and counselors work side by side to make sure the psychological, emotional, spiritual and medical needs of each client are thoroughly met and expectations exceeded.

Access Counseling Services was created out of a passion to meet the needs of the underserved mental health and addiction populations. Through evidence-based practices and treatment programs, we serve both the adult and adolescent addiction populations. Recently we all have seen the city of Middletown and the surrounding communities become debilitated by the war on drugs.
Access Counseling Services provides a staff of first-class psychiatrists. They work diligently to provide best-practice services for clients of all ages. With limited wait our patients have the opportunity to work with a team of professionals. Our Nurses, Therapists and Case Managers partner with the Doctors to communicate, support and meet all of your mental health needs.

While the receptionists are strangely bad about picking up the phone, yes, that’s not what should be the focus of a review. My counselor has been incredibly understanding and nonjudgmental and my prescribing NP is thorough and kind. I have nothing negative to say about my counseling services received by Access. I will continue going here for a long time to come.

Access Counseling Services / Irfan A. Dahar, MD is a shameful example of someone who makes a business from enacting pain and suffering. Very disappointing that this 'Psychologist' remains in business after so many sad events - and overwhelming negative reviews - and that they can continue demeaning.. and disrupting the lives of their patients.. with seemingly little to no recourse.
Please.. go elsewhere for your care and counsel. Read the other comparative reviews and beware.

Not only were the doctors and the staff cold, but my counselor for my PTSD was late or double booked me for appointment MULTIPLE times. Its hard to form a trust and a bond with someone when they are consistently late for appointments, and might I mention it wasn't 5-10 minutes late it was always a half an hour or more, and then we would be billed for a full hour of service.

This place deserves the lowest rating possible. Id absolutely give it zero if i could. As doctors, how can you be so heartless. Not only was there an hour and 15 min wait, but the doctor had the nerve to say he didn't have time to listen to his patients needs. You prescribe meds to mentally ill but want to tear them down at the same time? What a joke you are. I'm beyond disgusted and hope no one EVER gives your office the time of day. Find a new career if you can't actually care for your patients.

Waited 1hour and 20 minutes for my appointment !!!! After 45 minutes I ask them if the Doctor was running late and was told "oh you are next" !!!
Another 35 minutes of wait time and this happens .
I had already seen the Nurse (an hour ago)for my vitals but, they sent out the BIG bouncer Nurse to tell me that they hadn't !! Oh hell no ! I left !
MY TIME IS VALUABLE TOO !! Could have done without this !! Oh, this isn't the first time I had to wait over a hour . MENTAL HEALTH HELP ? I question their ability....

I’ve called this place 8 times trying to schedule an intake appointment. Half of those times, the call was ignored. Mental health should be taken seriously and not seen as an inconvenience. I would not recommend trying to go here, as people usually don’t reach out for help until they need it desperately. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
