One of the reasons we at Team Cain love orthodontics is that we change lives by giving our patients the advantage of meeting the world with a beautiful smile. One of the unfair aspects of life is that first impressions are very powerful. And crooked teeth or crowded teeth can leave a negative impression about you.
This can be done in advance by requesting the form to be e-mailed or faxed to you, or it can be done the day of the patient's first visit. Dr. Cain will then do a complete orthodontic exam. A panorex x-ray may be requested at this time to better answer questions about missing teeth or when to start treatment.
I refer to all the different things I use to treat as my tools. In the profession we use the word "appliances" and that refers to braces, bands, brackets, and wires, aligners, orthopedic devices (designed to treat jaw bone issues) and molar distalizers (fix bites). I also use mini implants (TADs or temporary anchorage devices) to stabilize some of the appliances.
Whether the patient is ready for treatment at the initial exam or after an observation period, we start with "diagnostic records" which consist of x-rays specifically for orthodontics, 3D scan of your teeth. This information is measured and analyzed and along with information from the clinical exam forms and Dr. Cain's diagnosis or analysis of the problems.
At the exam / consultation appointment we can usually give you an exact breakdown of insurance benefits, your costs and payment plan.
