Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry. The dental specialists who are educated and trained to correct misaligned teeth and improper bite patterns are known as orthodontists. Accredited orthodontists, like Dr. Stephen E. Ludwig, have earned their dentistry degree and completed an advanced post-doctoral course, accredited by the American Dental Association, of at least two academic years in the specialty of orthodontics.
Dr. Heather Stephens earned her DDS degree from the University of Southern California and then completed two years of post-graduate dental training during General Practice Residency (GPR) at UC San Francisco and the Veterans Medical Center in Sepulveda.
Following general dentistry training, Dr. Stephens completed three additional years of residency in orthodontics at USC, earning a Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics as well as a Master's degree in Craniofacial Biology.Dr. Stephens has been part of the Clayton Valley Orthodontics family for many years.

Dr. Ludwig and his team at Clayton Valley Orthodontics are dedicated to providing a positive orthodontic experience for all our patients and their families. This includes superior orthodontic care in a clean and safe environment. We are dedicated to perfection through continuing education and the introduction of the newest treatment techniques into our practice to best serve our patient's individual needs.
All services are charged directly to the patient and patients are responsible for payments of charges incurred. The orthodontic fee must be paid in full prior to the removal of the patient's braces unless other financial arrangements have been made. Our office will prepare the necessary reports to assist you in collecting benefits from your insurance company.

When you look forward to every Ortho. Appt. you know you've found a great DR. Dr. Ludwig is the best. Not only is he patient, gentle, & kind with children/kids of all ages, he's great with adults too. We were driving to his El Sobrante office after school from Berkeley, and now drive to his Clayton office..he's that good. He's especially great with sensitive children.
Most importantly, his staff is v. well trained, very professional. They can always be reached in an emergency. **2 years just flew by for us!

Dr Ludwig is the best! I found this place on Yelp and had two more places to consider at the time. I had to improve my both teenage girls smile significantly and I bet on CVO. Two years later writing this I am Happy Dad of two girls with wonderful smile. The office people are top professionals. The Doctor paid attention to every detail and drive the treatment to above expectations. There are few more things to notice - kids are welcome there as kids (not patients) And more important for parents - the office staff will work with insurance and financial going an extra mile to get every thing arranged
