The Rafters

Drove by it once. Not twice. Such a good place. Had a late lunch and was impressed! Burgers are big and flavorfull. The brisket is pieces and has a really smoky flavor. The sauce compliments it well. The potatoes are solid. And the cornbread is a winner!
Overall, everything was good and a 4+ star rating. Pricing, service, quality, and interior all great.

How can you miss the big red barn?

Driving to Galena we decided to stop for lunch at The Rafters. We were not disappointed. The burger was delicious and juicy. The smokestack burger was also delicious along w "the perfect situation". The fries were perfect.

It's been more than 2 years since we ate here. Rafters is the best restaurant in the entire area. Food is great, salad is fresh, our waitress, Eiley, is outstanding. Will definitely come back.

Ribs are absolutely delicious. I would give them five stars. steak was also top-notch. Salad with blue cheese was delicious. Green beans not good. I would say they were old and unfortunately I ordered a double order. Coleslaw was creamy and sour. Not good either. Maybe I should’ve went with the baked potato

About a year ago the wife and I stopped in for lunch. Handicapped parking and building access. Covid clean place. Wear a mask to your table and your set to go. Great waitress and great service. The food was good and portions were large. We'll be back!!

Go for the all-you can eat fish fry! Fish and fries were great; bbq ribs just passable. I liked the local artisan root beer, though it's pricey and not refillable. Great atmosphere, mediocre service. I wouldn't mind eating here again but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Went there to celebrate my birthday. Stopped by the bar and then sat down for a really good meal. Everyone was courteous, the drinks are not expensive, and the food was delicious.

Their food is to die for, their beer is to thirst for...

The food was ok, but they had absolutely 0 regard for COVID safety protocols! There were 5 staff members inside the restaurant and only 1 (our waiter) was wearing a mask. 2 people who brought us our food weren't wearing masks, the bartender wasn't wearing a mask, nor was the hostess. Wearing a mask isn't about your own personal feelings - it's about valuing the safety and health of others. Seeing staff members not following COVID safety rules was extremely alarming...makes me wonder what other health code violations there could be...

A short distance from Freeport. Better than your average restaurant. We've had steak, bbq pulled pork, ribs, brisket, and prime rib. Great fries. All was great. They serve a sweet corn bread that's wonderful. Tons of seating. Staff is very pleasant. Fairly quick service. Prices are a bit above your regular steakhouse, but very acceptable.

Delicious! We were just driving by on a strange route from Cedar Falls Iowa to South suburbs of Chicago and were very hungry when we ran across this restaurant. We had the brisket sandwich, breaded chicken beer battered and delicious potatoes and fried onions. Also had a yummy Lemon shake up cocktail.

When we're out here it's usually for a beer next door at Lena Brewing Company. Thing is, that drives our appetite and The Rafters fills that void quite nicely. We've stopped in a few times now. No matter what you feel like eating, Rafters has a little bit of just about everything. I'm a creature of habit and enjoy wraps, so the chicken bacon ranch wrap calls out to me every time I'm here. Oh...my...goodness! You have not had cheese until Rafters has served you a cheese curd. We had a table of appetizers on this visit, however, burgers and wraps have been loved on previous visits. Terrific food all around.
Above the food is the staff. From the time you walk in until the time you leave...its like being with friends and family. Cathy took amazing care of us today and fixed me up with some "pocket curds" for the ride home

Pulled pork Mac and cheese.... does it get any better? Seriously this was incredible and cooked to perfection -toasty, cheesy, yummy. Everything about Rafters was top-notch. The service, the menu, the food, the drinks, the atmosphere. We loved it here.
We went on a Saturday night, put in our name and had a few drinks at Lena Brewery, came back and everything was all set. The first class wine flight was a great start -$18 with solid choices and good pours. We skipped apps and went straight to meals. Great food, really neat atmosphere, very quaint and unique. Loved visiting the little gift shop as well. Friday all you can eat fish with beer batter made from the Lena brewery beer located next door. The entire establishment is run off solar power panels.

Great place for some beer and quick food. They have craft beer with a good cause ( part of the sales goes to local fire department). I ordered steak and French onion soup. Not a fan of soup however steak was really good.

In the middle of no where, but the food is worth the drive to the middle of no where.
I was with a larger group and everyone liked what they had. Restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, and afterwards we walked over to Lena Brewing Company which is on the same property.

The food here was delicious. I got the burger with bacon on a pretzel bun and it was amazing. One of the best pretzel burgers I've had. Id recommend getting sweet potatoes fries and the pretzel bites. I also got a bourbon mule to drink I'd recommend it! Our waitress Lori was awesome she was super friendly and helpful!

Everything is just OK here. Seems like the food quality has declined some in recent months but they still have a nice variety that isn't usually found in the area.

They used to have a great craft beer selection, but that's mostly been replaced by the Lena Brewing beers that are brewed at the connected brewery. Unfortunately, their beer isn't very good.

I've always eaten in the bar area. It's comfortable and family friendly. Service is usually good.

As far as restaurants in the area go...The Rafters is pretty good. We recently had dinner here and most of the group really liked their food. I had the bbq pork sandwich and it was good.

The service was very good, we were there on a Sunday night and the dining room was pretty empty. Our server was attentive and kept up on our drink refills and the all you can eat fried chicken a couple in the group had ordered.

Like I said to start with, as far as restaurants in the area go The Rafters is pretty good. If you're looking for a good meal and some drinks you'll be in the right place

Put the homemade potato chips on the appetizer menu! Served with your Haystack Sauce of course!!
We can't be the only ones who would come in for those!
