Women section is outdated. only a smith machine and then a 10-15 lb bar to add weights from the smith machine for anyone who wants to deadlift or hip thrust. The heaviest dumbbells are 35 lbs i believe…. there has been a dead bug for weeks in the same area. Was told it was going to be updated almost one year ago. i signed up for the womens are but it’s weak but stars for at least having a womens area.

Currently training at this gym postpartum and during a pandemic. I was a little hesitant to go back to the gym, but it feels much safer than I expected. Restaurants seem way more riskier in my opinion. Here they are always cleaning, took correct precautions, and masked. There is always someone going around cleaning, and sanitation stations throughout the gym.. As a mom with an infant at home, I wouldn't risk it, but my mental and physical health has improved by getting out and taking care of myself, and for that I am a better mom. The gym is also not as busy as it probably once was preCovid because

This place is not following covid 19 guide lines. A lot of the men that come to work out and use the free weights work out without a mask on their face. Staff only sits in the front and when I or other people tell them about the issue they don't seem to respond without a care. Just Sunday and today Tuesday I told the front desk and the gentleman never even bothered getting up because he was having a food conversation with a couple. They need to shut this place down if they don't follow guide lines. This is unhealthy and they should know better. I left one gym about this issue and I just joined

I’ve been going to Salem fitness off and on since it was known as Gold’s gym. I’ve had memberships and I’ve come as a visitor, but I’ve always felt welcome.
Most recently I started working out primarily in the women’s gym at Salem fitness. Most gyms say they have a women’s gym but it often pales in comparison to the main gym. This is not the case at Salem fitness! The women’s gym is well outfitted with all the same equipment and in a reasonable amount of each type. It is spacious as well.
I enjoy coming to Salem fitness when I come home for vacations and will continue to do so

This studio is listed on the app ClassPass in multiple categories with multiple class times. I signed up for a block of gym time on ClassPass with the intent of going in to lift weights for an hour. When I went to the studio to work out, the woman working at the front desk turned me away, insisting that the gym would not honor my booking. When I asked why they were on the app if they weren't going to honor bookings I wasn't given a clear answer (the desk person was very confused) - just told that they weren't accepting my booking, and that if I wanted to work out I would have to

I love the gym and equipment but totally disappointed that it doesn’t always open at 5 am. Therefore, some times I have had to miss my workout. Today, I had to leave after waiting for twenty minutes. I was satisfied when I called the owner and he was able to address my issue in professional manner . I will continue to do my workouts here because I really enjoy my time here. Thanks for your quick response ...

I am a big enthusiast on fitness and FOOD! So i needed a place that jad the energy of a positive plave to hit some heavy weights. When i walk in and saw more plates than i can count and machines you can only find in a real gym in great condiotion i knew this was the place for me. The equipment is perfect. I can hit every muscle of my body and hit my cardio without the long wait.
Then to my surprise the owner open a room for boxing! I have wanted to give it a dab for years and it was perfect. Mike being a great trainer and patient teacher i had grown to love hitting the bag, as well as making

All the negative comments on here are complete BS! I've been a member here for years & since Mike recently took over management this place has completely turned around for the better. Not only is he just an awesome person in general, but he has taken this place and brought it back to life. He walked in to a failing gym that was literally falling apart. You cannot blame him for the mess that was left here for him to clean up. He's doing a great job with and it does not go unnoticed. Many other members including myself are grateful he decided to take over because now the gym is actually

If you're looking for convenience and simple you found the right place for travel/crowd control. Very village/community like with gym goers. Been here since 2013, same old cardio equipment. Weight room equipment same old thing as well. Don't expect them to shovel the entrance when it's snowing outside. I don't blame the employees, I blame management/owners for lack of respect & empathy for members here. Without warning they had taken away the core/aerobics room replacing it with a mediocre boxing room. No notice with construction to the room or a separate private membership

Not bad for a no frills gym. Group exercise classes are good. However, no A/C in group exercise room for about 3 weeks. Not healthy for cardiac work. A/C is working in other areas so it must be a problem in this room. Complaints do nothing. We continue to pay our dues but no results!! Had the same problem with heat in the winter a few years ago. It took a long time to be repaired.

Just moved to Peabody, so I was looking for a new gym since I'm a avid gym guy. I previously went to Become Fitness in Methuen which is a state of the art brand new gym that just destroys all the other gyms. I called, and spoke to someone named "Nikki" to discuss prices. Nikki who sounded very uneducated, started to become rude when I started telling her how much I paid at Become fitness. I ended the call in a very professional manner. However later on I started getting these texts from them harassing me that I'm a Planet Fitness guy lol telling me to go eat pizza and a bunch

I was able to get a 7 day pass to Salem Fitness i am a member at another gym but wanted to try it out anyway because they have classes and this other gym doesn't ...to me it's more of a muscle gym the majority of the people are in pretty good shape, as far as the gym being clean a lot of cobwebs in the corners of the gym area no big deal the president is not coming also found the workout machines are somewhat close together although they do have a lot of new machines the parking can also be tough.....they have classes there some are free some are $ 10.00 dollars a class the monthly dues

I recently moved to Salem and am an avid exerciser. For most of my life I've lifted weights - from body building workouts to strength workouts and everything in between. I've also done martial arts, so currently do a lot of agility stuff as well.
So, this gym is pretty solid for what I need. It has a lot of equipment packed in a moderate-sized room. The lifting equipment and machines are in pretty good shape and basically everything is covered, including 3 free squat racks, a number of benches, pre-weighted barbells, dumb bells, and all that. Additionally, they have an area good for stretching

All of the equipment is old, if not broken! They charge $30/month or $40/month if you want to take classes. But..not all classes are included with that! If you want to take TRX its 10$ a class!!!! So if you go to TRX once a week, you could be paying $80+ a month for broken equipment and a few classes! No thanks, Ill go to the YMCA up the street for $60 with a pool and all classes, or Planet Fitness around the corner for $9.99 with no classes, but brand new equipment.

The front desk staff isn't friendly. When customer make observations they get very defensive, specially Jay one of the manager. The bathroom & steam room are disgusting, even after numerous requests to clean from many different customer. Under the benches on the steam room has this kind of moss. The bathroom head shower and tile grout are black from build up. They say they will clean it, but every week is the same.
Parking is terrible. Never enough.
On the week of 4th of July the facility is closing every day at 2PM. Can you believe? Instead of extend hours they are decreasing the hours

I really like this place, even though I'm not a member myself. We got my elderly mother a membership so she could do low impact exercise to rebuild strength and stamina after an illness.
The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Ditto for the other members, some of whom have made it a point to offer encouragement to my mother.
We only use the women's workout room, but I've seen the full facilities and am impressed by the size of the workout spaces and the amount and variety of equipment. It's in good repair, and the women's workout room and locker room have always

This gym is absolutely AWFUL. Put your money to better use at another gym where they don't have the following problems:
1. The owner: he is extremely rude and clearly does not care about his establishment. It is obvious that he does not invest any money for the upkeep of the gym, nor does he care about the health and safety of gym members. The gym is dirty and the parking lot is dangerous. Cars are constantly broken into in the parking lot and he won't put in security cameras, even though the Salem Police Department has recommended this to him several times.
2. The equipment: Spin bikes

This gym has all the equipment you will need and they have improved the bathrooms. The other perk is the people, the staff and the members are friendly (no cliques) and helpful. The parking surrounds the building so there is no issue there. With all the classes etc. included its a deal.I am a gym manager in the north shore and I love training here.

I presently go to Ballys. For a change, I went around the corner to this place.
I walk in and two angry women seem to be at the counter.
I ask about any specials and they shove me a piece of paper. No upselling. No smiles. Horrible customer service already.
The so-called 'deal' was for '19.95 a month. $240 a year PLUS $56! What?!?
I told them Bally's is charging me $100 a year.
Thinking that they would try to be competitive - and given the economy, we could negotiate. No way. One of the witches then says 'WELL, WE CHARGE $275 A YEAR!!' What kind of sales is that
