Dr. Austin F. Smith was born in Jamaica and moved to the United States in 1985. He has practiced orthodontics in several states, including Washington, D.C., New York, Michigan and Ohio. He now resides in South Florida where he has an orthodontic office in Plantation to provide braces for both children and adults.
We are especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Our office staff has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care.
Your scheduled appointment time has been reserved specifically for you. We request 24-hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. We are aware that unforeseen events sometimes require missing an appointment. After missing your second appointment without notifying us 24 hours in advance, you are subject to being charged an additional fee.
We accept and file most major PPO insurances and accept assignment of benefits from your insurance company. The insurances listed below are some of the most common PPO insurances that we accept in the practice. We do not take any HMO plans. We understand that your life may be busy, so we schedule appointments to fit your lifestyle.

Dr. Smith has customer service down to a science....his personality is wonderful and he is extremely thorough. He oversees, educates and laughs with his staff. For the most part, his staff are polite and very professional and knowledgeable (most of the staff, but not everything can be perfect!).
Rasheeda is always on top of everything and knows everyone's name. To sum it up, I highly, highly recommend for all of your orthodontic needs....5/5 for sure.

Dr Smith and his team demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and competence with a smile. I was apprehensive about getting braces initially but, when I met with Dr Smith and he explained the process and answered all my questions I realized I made the right choice. I had several issues over the 18 months and there were always accommodated despite the short notice. Thanks to the team you have put a smile on my face.

I’ve been to many ortho’s for consultation, from Atlanta to Ft Lauderdale and this was the best I came about. Was amazed by the updated technology. The Dr has a great personality and really cares about his patients. I decided to go forward and get my ceramics. I have been going to Dr Smith for 9 months now and I still feel as if this was the best decision I made. They work with your schedule by having after 5 appts and weekends. I never had an issue with scheduling. And the one time a bracket came off I was seen same day I called. Rasheeda the front assistant has made my experience 10xs better

Great Orthodontist! Very friendly and Knowledgeable. However, his staff isn’t as on top of things as they should be. Gave them my insurance information twice before my appointment just to go in and have them tell me I don’t have insurance, then having to wait longer for them to try to verify it (left without it being verified). All whilst being insulted by the office manager as she repeatedly states “IF” I have insurance as she explains the costs to me. Maybe I misinterpreted and her wording was off but after a few times of her saying it I took offense. I would have preferred if there was

Before I got braces, I didn't like to smile and show my teeth in pictures. I have had my braces on for about a year and I can't believe how much my teeth have moved. Dr. Smith's Orthodontics is amazing. I love my smile!! The staff is super friendly and I never have a long wait for my appointments. Thank you Dr. Smith!!
