In 1779, three early settlers, Capt. Thomas Helm, Col. Andrew Hynes, and Col. Samuel Haycraft, built forts with block houses to use as stockades for defense against Native Americans. The forts, being one mile apart, formed a triangle. At the time, there were no other settlements between the Ohio River and the Green River.
Welcome to the Elizabethtown Tourism & Convention Bureau with its state-of-the-art tourism center! Our friendly staff are eager to provide you with information, directions, and ideas for your vacation. Part of what gives Elizabethtown its irresistible charm is the wide array of festivals and events held throughout the year.
Elizabethtown is centrally located within 400 miles of 12 major U.S. cities, and less than a 40-minute drive to the Louisville International Airport. Sitting at the intersection of three major highways---Interstate 65, the Bluegrass Parkway, and the Western Kentucky parkway, we have all the vibrant attributes of a much larger city, but remain a charming small town.
Elizabethtown is a phenomenal place to live, work and play. Our local hotels, restaurants, shopping, attractions, and recreational opportunities also make it an excellent host-city for meetings. Elizabethtown is centrally located within 400 miles of 12 major U.S. cities and sits at the intersection of three major roadways - I65, the Bluegrass Parkway, and the Western Kentucky Parkway.
The Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau is one of Kentucky's most convenient meeting locations, seated just off I-65 at exit 94. Our modern facility is surrounded by a number of hotels and area restaurants that add to its appeal. The facility contains almost 5000 square feet of meeting space, a spacious lobby with a window-wall facing the south, and furniture for both collaboration and relaxation.

My designated voting location. Exercise your right to have a say in who represents you in government! If you didn't vote, you can't complain about the leadership in this country! If you want a change, you have to get out and vote for it!

Besides the obvious of providing good information about the area, they have meeting rooms in the back that are available to community groups. It's a great resource for your charitable group.

The first thing I noticed was that all the gates except the main one were locked. Next, I noticed every single playing field-even the lower quality off to the side ones-has signs saying I needed permission to use them. Odd, since I was forced to pay for them and it's public property. Every field also had a sign that said field closed.
I called the office-not getting through the first 5 or 6 days including voicemails left-to enquire about using one of the soccer fields with

I called the Elizabethtown Tourism Bureau to talk about a local event we organize. It appears clear that this organization does not wish to be involved in anything meaning they are going to have to "work".
I am highly disappointed in them and sad that the City does not take tourism seriously.
Considering the here above, I can't recommend this organization to anyone. Sorry.

This is a lot more than a visitor's center where you can find tourist information. Sure, that's included, but the meeting facilities are the real surprise. And be sure to look up at the RC airplanes on display.
