A loved one's passing often leaves us feeling adrift. While most elect to hold some type of memorial service, the breadth of options available can be overwhelming. We want to make it easier. We are here to help you create a service that befits the life of your loved one. This section contains useful information about funeral options, what to do when death occurs, information on writing an obituary, and recommended funeral etiquette.
Whether a death is sudden or expected, the loss of a loved one is indescribable. When you are in a heightened emotional state, even the most basic decisions can seem staggering. This section seeks to guide you through the immediate hours following a passing. If the person was not under hospice care, the police will have to be notified immediately.
Traditionally, a burial service involves a visitation and is followed by a funeral service. While the casket is typically present at both these events, it is your decision whether to have the casket open. You then have a number of options for interment. Decisions also need to be made on whether the body needs to be embalmed, what kind of casket to use, what cemetery to use and what to put on the gravestone.

They shouldn’t be allowed to perform funerals! In your time of grief they should take care of the details correctly and considerately. Not scream at you because they are inept.
I realized after a month when I started coming out of the fog of loosing our loved one, no one had asked us bring clothes to the funeral home or even asked about them. I remembered being asked during other arrangements. Always being asked what we wanted them to wear. I have no idea what he was wearing and it haunts me.
They showed up to retrieve the body with proper documentation. They are inept at today’s technology

I can't say enough good things about Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. In such a difficult time for our family, Ms. Bettye Kirby was so comforting and helpful. She made preparations for my husband's service easy and was always available to answer my questions. She also guided the actual service with grace and confidence while remaining kind and respectful to the family's needs. And although no one wants think about cost while making final arrangements, Kirby-Ratliff is very reasonable in their costs and transparent in what they will be charging. They will make the arrangements to whatever degree you

Unfortunately I had to attend a memorial prepared by this company, it was terrible, not only part of the ashes handed to the family in ziploc bags, like it was condiments, they were kicking us out before everyone was done saying their goodbyes to the deceased. The funeral home was racking dirt into the burial site with family members standing next to the hole, overall it was an awful experience. If you can find another funeral home to deal with you will be better off.

She dusted her hands off on her pants, and rubbed her hands together to remove my mother's husband's ashes after separating them for family members. Then washed ashes off her hands down the sink, all while my family watched. Do your job, but in this case being complacent is hurtful and not acceptable .
