Everyone at the salon is super friendly and professional. Emily has cut my hair twice and I've loved it both times. I don't have super curly hair but she is an expert and bringing out the waves that I do have. If you have curly or wavy hair you've got to go here! No more frizz, just beautiful, natural curls.

This is by far the best curly hair haircut I've ever had. They cut hair dry to see how the curl pattern falls and then wash, style, and retrim any areas that need it. I've never had a haircut on my curly hair that I liked until Emily cut my hair here. She trained me to style my hair to keep the curls intact and minimize frizz. I will never go anywhere else, because a good haircut is worth any price, but their pricing is reasonable, especially for follow up cuts. If you're looking for a stylist who knows how to cut curly hair, then this is the place to go.

Amazing!! Emily took her time and made sure we understood everything about hair care for curly hair. My daughter’s natural curly hair was FINALLY cut like naturally curly hair NEEDS to be cut! What a fantastic find! I've never had anyone train me on my curly/bendy hair. Emily was patient and informative. The salon itself is done in Industrial Chic and is a beautiful place to visit. I was so happy with the curls I received a while back from them. I bought the large sized bottles of diva curl and everything was great. A few weeks later my scalp was in misery. I found out I was extremely allergic after using the product and having it sit in my hair for a while. When I went back to return the extremely pricey" no-poo", conditioner, and gel I was told there was nothing they could do. 5 stars is not something I would normally hand out, but when it comes to Johan Studio it is warranted. This is particularly true when my name is on the review. It is small business in a small town and aside from providing expert services, they take pride in customer service. Our family has been going to Johans since it opened, and we have only ever received top notch service - exactly what we asked for - with service provided in a professional, chic setting (check out the vibe when you go in). Emily takes the time you need, and delivers.

This looks like a big city salon, it is clean, cool and sophisticated. The owner, Cathy, is pleasant and welcoming. The daughter, Emily, needs some customer service skills.

I went to this salon 4 times and Emily just couldn't get my hair request right. And, it's my fault for going back. But, it is just a few miles from home, they specialize in curly hair, and I wanted to support a local biz.
