Very late post but I went to this shop when I had locs for my first in salon hair bleaching/ color. My locs began falling out a month after the service. The stylist that bleached my hair apparently left bleach in my locs. (Locs can retain a lot of product. Guess she didn't know. Neither did I- that's why I went to a professional) The smell was unbearable. The next day after the service, I washed my newly retwisted hair because of the stench. I realized something was wrong- my hair still smelled "chemically". I contacted the shop and another stylist, I believe the owner, thoroughly

I found this shop a few years ago and I can confidently say that Marqui consistently does a great silk press!
Parking is ample, the shop is spacious, and the prices are more than reasonable.

Great experience. Have been going there for many years never disappointed when I leave.

I have been coming here for a few years. The owner, Marquisha is the best! From her great staff to her overall personality. They make you feel welcomed and are very accommodating. Not to mention, my hair is ALWAYS done right.

My sister recommended Marquia, this is my second time coming and both times have been pleasant experiences. She seems to have 'growing hands'. Time will tell. But iij n the meantime... she she colored the heaven my hair.

I got my first knotless box braids by Jazmine and I love them! I arrived a little late for my appointment but she was very nice about it. A wash is included with the style and she gave a very thorough shampoo and condition. She showed me pictures of other clients with similar hair types to help me get a feel for the look and decide on a size and then she got right to work. Jazmine is so precise with her parting and braiding technique which means no pulling, tight edges or scissor trim at the end. She tucks your hair in the braid and finishes with mouse. While it did take a little longer than anticipated

I was a satisfied customer until a month ago. Marquisha started my locs and did a fabulous job. However, at my last monthly appointment I paid for interlocking. When I took my updo down a week later I realized the middle had not been interlocked. I reached out twice for her to complete the middle, with no response. I am disappointed and do not plan to return.

While the braided is excellent the customer service of the owner needs serious improvement. It is impossible to get an appointment for braids. I've called way in advance and either not gotten a phone call back or told they cannot do braids except a random Monday at noon. Never am I given alternative appointment times. Extremely frustrating to book and as a result I will go elsewhere.

I also got a braid out from them that was horrendouss. I had to wear a silk scarf to cover it for 2 weeks because it was so bad. It was 60 bucks and very stiff because she used hella mouse.

Wanted post and second review, but seems I can only edit. I wanted to give a sincere thank you to Monica! I returned to The Hair Marqui for box braids again before a trip overseas. I knew I wanted them small to medium and light (as realistically possible). Monica really listened to my concerns. Jasmine is amazing! I got knotless braids done yesterday and felt no discomfort whatsoever. She braided the thickness based on my natural hair that is long and soft and the result is so natural looking! Jasmine worked quickly and efficiently and was super pleasant and sweet the whole time; she's my new go to girl for hair in the DMV!

Surprisingly awesome! I usually dont try anyone new without references but I did this time because I really wanted to try these KNOTLESS BOX BRAIDS. Jasmine ... you did not disappoint. These braids are not tight at all and perfect for me as I grow out my natural hair.

Jasmine was the absolute greatest! I know this review took forever to post but my birthday hair was beautiful!! Everyone at the shop was super kind. It was a great experience. Thanks Jasmine!

I did a general search on salons in the area and decided to try this salon because of the reason prices that were listed on the website. I called and the owner answered and gave me the information I needed and I was able to come in the same day. She placed with one of her new stylist, Alex. This young lady was awesome! Very accomplished and polished. The owner has set great standard. I’ll definitely be back!!!

Always great service and the ladies are friendly. Marquisa (hope I'm spelling her name correctly) takes care of my hair. She listens to what I would like to do and is honest in her responses. She also understands the hair goals for my daughter. One other thing that I like is that she doesn't try to sell you stuff you don't need.

I actually do know the process of how a perm (curl) works. Just because clients ask questions, it doesn't always mean that they don't know the answer. It could be to test the knowledge and skills of the beautician.

I originally got a perm (curl) somewhere else and the beautician did a great job and my curls were defined.

This review is long overdue. I had my hair appointment at the Hair Marqui and my stylist was Jasmine. Jasmine was so nice and cordial to me from the time I walked through the door. Her hands were so gentle on my hair when washing it. She gave my hair 3 washes. My scalp was a happy. And she would ask whether I need mor massaging of my scalp. And my scalp needed it being that I had crotchet in for the last couple of week. Jasmine styled my hair in a protective style which I absolutely love! Jasmine took her time and made sure I liked how the style started before continuing. I still get compliments

I'm so thankful for Jasmine of the Hair Marqui in Beltsville. I've been growing my hair for the past few months and was looking for a new style. She suggested gel twists. She made them small and every time I get them done, I love them and received a lot of compliments. They last for a few weeks and Jasmine is very flexible with appointments. The twists take about 1.5 hours. I've had zero issues and the environment in the salon is chill and upbeat. Definitely check out the Marqui if you want Gel twists!

Yesterday was my first time coming to this salon. I've been natural for about 2 years and I normally don't got to the salon unless I need a trim. Yesterday I got a trim and two strand twist by Jasmine. She was friendly and did a good job. I also liked that she trimmed my hair while it was wet instead of blow drying it first. I've been to other hair salons where it feels like the stylist is yanking my hair while trying to detangle it. I did not experience that with Jasmine. I had a good experience and I would go again.

I'm a little late on my review but I got box braids done by Jasmine a few weeks ago and she did an awesome job! She was gentle and made sure not to do it too tight. She also gave me one of the best hair washes before she started braiding! I'll definitely be back for my braids to be touched up soon!

I see Nadine at this salon for my locs maintenance. I've been using her for many years. The salon is always clean and the staff is friendly. Parking can be a challenge due to a church within the same center. Appointments are required.

I've been going to this salon for a couple years now and I love it. Marquisia knows how to cut her behind off and whenever i go to get layers or a trim it looks amazing. She also presses my natural hair as good as the Dominicans use to and I never suffer heat damage. Last time I went I got half highlights and got compliments for months. I am going back next month to get layers and more highlights. Hope to continue going for a long time!

I found The Hair Marqui when I was searching on yelp for salons near me that worked with transitioning and natural hair. I began transitioning to natural hair from a relaxer in December 2014. I had a regular stylist, but she wasn't focused on natural hair care. When I felt that my 4c hair had become too much for my previous stylist to handle, I made the decision to change salons. (If you're a black woman, you know how hard it is to trust someone new with your hair!) I didn't want to do the "big chop", so it was important that the stylist could straighten the natural part
