The HMR Architects team is an ensemble of skilled, knowledgeable, and keenly dedicated individuals who together provide highly regarded architectural services to their clients. Founding partner, Philetus H. Holt, and principals Robert W. Russell and Eric Holtermann, have fostered and attracted staff members who together maintain the ideals of the original firm while utilizing appropriate advances in the fields of architecture and technology.

They take pride not only in their work but in the relationships they have built with their clients. Bob joined Holt & Morgan Architects in 1981 and became a Principal of HMR Architects in 1993. Over his 30 plus years of practice he has completed a wide variety of projects including libraries and civic and academic buildings.
Services
HMR ARCHITECTS is a firm committed to providing clients with the highest quality architectural services for projects that range from civic and institutional buildings to custom homes. Originally founded in 1965 as Holt & Morgan Architects, HMR is based in Princeton, New Jersey. Architectural and planning projects for institutions, museums, libraries, and residences make up a large part of HMR's practice.
HMR's architectural portfolio offers a wide range of contextual new building designs, adaptive re-use of existing buildings, and historic preservation projects. Architectural services include programming and space planning, building design, master plans, conditions surveys, site design, construction administration, feasibility studies, and green design / sustainability.
This new fire and police building was designed based on recommendations of a borough-wide study. HMR worked closely with both departments to provide a new building that thoroughly respects the surrounding architectural context of its prominent downtown site while responding to demanding programmatic and technological requirements.
HMR's work at the Morristown & Morris Township Library involved the expansion and renovation of the Collegiate Gothic and Neo Classical library. The existing library suffered from cramped spaces, fractured floor plan, and poor lighting.

In keeping with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation, the new design reinterprets original design elements and proportions to create new spaces while defining the evolution of the structure.Clerestory windows bring natural light deep into the expanded space. The extensive use of natural lighting delivers cost and environmental savings while providing lively, comfortable, interior spaces.
Somerville Borough Hall, built in 1887, is a Gothic Revival structure with a large 1930s addition located at the confluence of two major roads at the north end of Main Street. HMR completed an Exterior Condition Assessment to provide an overall investigation of the exterior and make recommendations for its repair and long-term rehabilitation.
