Dr. Thousand was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and married his childhood sweetheart, Jane. They had one child Dr. Robert Thousand, III, and both worked full-time jobs while attending the University of Missouri and Washington University. Dr. Thousand graduated from Central Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and additional minors in both physics and math.
My name is Hailey Wilson McKinley, I received my bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry and psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington. Similar to my parents and both grandfathers, I attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry. While in dental school, I developed an interest in Periodontics after receiving a soft tissue graft in my own mouth.
Implant dentistry is an advanced way of providing a natural-looking and permanent solution for your missing tooth or teeth. We offer dental implants in St. Augustine, Florida, and our experienced periodontists, Dr. John Thousand, Dr. Robert Thousand Jr., and Dr. Michael Romani, use the latest implant technology for the procedure.
An implant is inserted into the jawbone, which is why it is so stable and strong. But, for the dentist to place it, there must be an optimal amount of bone to hold the implant firmly in place. We would consider the length, thickness, width, and volume of the jawbone by means of an x-ray before deciding the candidacy for an implant.
Dental implant procedures are very successful in most cases. In rare cases, there might occur some complications, out of which the common one is peri-implant diseases. This happens when the soft and hard gum tissues surrounding the implant get infected. It can cause inflammation in your gums and even bone loss in the implant site.

I’m from Boston and had to get my wisdom teeth pulled while I was down in Florida. I ended up going here and my mine was blown. From Boston to Florida I’ve never seen a more professional dentist's practice with state of the art equipment. The staff is so nice and will make your experience a positive one. Everyone I’ve spoken to that have had their wisdom teeth out went through a nightmare, I was feeling fine the next day. Go here for all your dental needs, you will be blown away.

I had to get gum disease removed before heart surgery, Dr Romani chiseled my teeth so bad that I have nerve damage and very big gaps between my teeth. I literally need to take floss everywhere I go !! They called my surgery a success !! It was a total failure, I would have never got it done with them knowing this could be the outcome. They will not respond to my emails to help me. I do not recommend them...

Faced with a denture, bridge or up to three implants, after a reasonable amount of research, I chose the latter. While my long time dental professional was capable of providing this service, he instead deferred to Dr. Thousand for the actual implants and he in turn would provide the abutments and crowns. He saw this as a team effort all the while praising Dr. Thousand for the exceptional reputation he is known for promising nothing less than a positive experience.

Doctor Robert Thousand is a great doctor. He extracted my tooth and provided a bone graft excellently. I cannot rave enough about the STAFF at dental specialists of North Florida! My teeth were in very poor condition such that the regular dentist felt that there was little that they could do for me at that stage. Dr. Romani and the staff at Dental Specialist of North Florida analyzed my situation, provided options and a course of treatment which has made a truly remarkable improvement. Well no one ever looks at getting a tooth extracted as an experience you want to write a review about but the doctor and staff are worth my time. A broken tooth below the gum line over a darn peanut crazy. I went to the office the office staff was unbelievable walked me through the procedure letting me know step by step what was going on felt no pain during the procedure. Felt great but numb when I left the office, that evening after 7:00pm the doctor called shocking not an intern or a tech but the surgeon

I moved to St Augustine from Boston, MA a couple of years ago and had to find a new Periodontist. I searched and checked reviews and had a couple of consults along the way. What I found in Dr. Thousand (aka Dr. John) and his incredible team was a perfect match for my needs. Having had the same Perio in Boston for over 20 years, (Harvard faculty, great credentials, etc) I knew it would not be easy to develop the same type of trust and relationship in a new provider.
