Great Oak School
Great Oak School opened its doors in the Fall 2009 in a small house on Spring Cypress Road in Spring. We started with 3 children in the Kindergarten. In Fall 2010 we opened in our current location in Tomball with one Kindergarten class and have grown steadily and healthily ever since. In 2021-2022 we will have one mixed-age Kindergarten with up to 20 students, a preschool program with up to 15 students, and grades one through eight.

Each month more students find their way to our school to embark on their own journey into this extraordinary education. Great Oak School is part of a worldwide movement of more than 1,000 institutions whose approach to education is inspired by the ground-breaking work of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925).
Services
Great Oak is a school inspired by Waldorf education that offers a distinctive pedagogy recognized for its unique and innovative characteristics. At the core of education inspired by Waldorf are principles of child development that inform teachers and parents as to how we learn and how to best teach our children.
We are inspired by Waldorf Education. Developed in 1919 by scientist and philosopher Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf Education is based on a model of child development that addresses the needs of the growing child and maturing adolescent. Waldorf teachers see education as an art form, the goal of which is to balance and engage all of their students' developing faculties.
Great Oak School believes tuition assistance plays a major role in contributing to the success and health of the school. We strive to provide accessibility for all qualified students who seek an education inspired by Waldorf. Families with students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible for tuition assistance.
The Great Oak School's Early Childhood program provides a nurturing foundation for the growing child. By nourishing the mind and the senses through a healthy, beauty-filled environment, our programs foster the development of the whole child. Each classroom is warm, inviting, cared for and intentionally filled with beautiful, natural materials.
Great Oak School's Grade School curriculum is based on the insights of Rudolf Steiner, the Austrian philosopher whose vision of education gave rise in the 1920s to the Waldorf school movement, which has now engendered more than 1,000 schools worldwide. Our education is holistic, seeking to cultivate not only the intellectual capabilities of students, but their spiritual, moral, and artistic capacities as well.

This school is amazing! It has been life changing for our whole family. The level of care the teachers have for the children is beyond compare. We love the connection between head, heart, and hands that is incorporated into every lesson. Children are allowed to be children and learn through play at a young age focusing on fostering their imagination and cooperation with others. The community is so welcoming and there are many opportunities to be involved in your child's schooling experience. You get to know the teachers and other parents and have their support which is unlike any other school

From the moment we stepped foot on campus the whole community has been so welcoming. The Education we get for our children here is priceless; not just in academic subjects, but also in how to be a citizen of their community and the world. Great Oak School is a wonderful nurturing environment for the children, and a supportive, helpful environment for the parents. Five Stars.

We discovered Great Oak School at the Tomball farmers market and had our daughter attend the pre-kindergarten class. It's been three years and we have seen her grown far more than ever expected from the Waldorf approach the school uses. We love the school and found a real community here. Thank you GOS!

My son is going on his third year here. The environment is very nurturing and we love that it is free of media influences and focuses on developing the whole child, not forced memorization of facts. You can see the spirit and creativity of the kids shine as a result.

Great Oak teaches my kids confidence and to love learning. They can’t wait to go to school and hate to leave. They learn languages, practical skills along with those 3 R’s.

Great oak embraces what every child needs in their life and learning. The teachers are kind and caring. It has the best curriculum I have ever seen! Instead of creating just another school they have created a community. We are extremely happy with choosing great oak for our children and you will be too.
