Bill Heffernan, Jim Whitcomb and David Whitcomb started Champlain Valley Plumbing & Heating in Bill's home in 2002. The warehouse was in David's basement. Soon after, they built the office and warehouse on Monkton Road in Bristol. In 2004 they added fuel delivery, and bought Rogers Fuels on Exchange Street in Middlebury the year after.

My AC died last week - and I forgot to call them until about 5:15 on Friday. Early Monday morning Dave, their air conditioning guy, called - he could come by late afternoon to check out the problem and see if it was a quick fix. He did, and it wasn't. He came back TODAY - remember, this is the SECOND BUSINESS DAY after I called in the problem, and we're in the middle of a 90+ degree heat wave in VERMONT. I'd been expecting to not even see anyone for a week, since I'm sure they're swamped with service calls!
