Several thousand years ago, East Asian practitioners discovered that the body forms disharmonies as a result of the various physical and mental stresses of life. Oriental medical theory explains these disharmonies as an imbalance of opposing forces called yin and yang. This imbalance disrupts the movement of the body's vital energy (qi) along the meridian pathways, which are channels through which the body's energy is thought to flow.
Chinese herbs are often used in conjunction with acupuncture for added therapeutic effect. While many cultures have herbal medicine traditions, the sophistication of Chinese herbal medicine is unsurpassed. Chinese herbal medicine has a long history reaching back several thousand years, and the resulting system is now used to treat everything from the common cold to certain types of cancer.
Charles is absolutely wonderful. I went to him for a few different things but the biggest one was my constant headaches. Before my treatment was even over the headaches were gone and stayed gone. Every issue I had walked in with, he has made completely better. Between the acupuncture, the massage therapy and his genuine kind-heartedness you leave feeling like a completely better person.

Dr. Charles is a fantastic acupuncturist. He is extremely knowledgeable and caring. I had an accident about two years ago. I have been going to Hampton Roads Acupuncture for several months now. Although it has not cured me, it has been a tremendous help with migraines, stress headaches, neck and back pain, among other things. He has got things going in a positive direction. I am so very grateful for the help that he and Karla have both been. Highly recommended! If I could give 6 stars I would! Keep up the great work.

I have stage IV metistatic breast cancer and after only two visits my nausea, leg cramps, heartburn and stress level are all down significantly. I have left both treatments feeling very relaxed and energized! I am very excited to continue treatment with Dr. Charles. He took a lot of time talking to me and educating me in the art of acupunture and… what it could do for me specifically. He's very patient with all my questions and his Office Manager Karla is very well knowledge as well. Overall office experience is extremely friendly and relaxing.

I would have never guessed the things acupuncture could help with that Charles was able to fix for me! I went as a last chance effort before going to have surgery to try and fix the horrible reflux I had every night and within only a couple weeks it was almost gone! We have moved on from there now to sleep issues, neck pain and weight loss and I am now down 40+ lbs!!!! Very exciting and very cool stuff!!! I highly recommend this place!
