At American Karate Studios one of the fundamental character traits we reinforce is that of respect. We discuss respect in three areas: respect for ourselves, respect for others, and respect for our surroundings. The most important thing in reinforcing respect is consistency. At American Karate we make respect a part of our students' daily routine so that it becomes a habit.
Head Instructor Marc Shay has taken the Best and Most Practical Components of the Striking, Grappling, Locking and Pressure Point Arts to give his students a way to tailor their training to best suit there needs to have the confidence to defend themselves in any situation. Self defense scenarios teach concepts and the application of technique in real life situations.
Tai Chi Chuan is an exercise that may be practiced by anyone. It is non-strenuous, relaxing and graceful. Tai Chi benefits the student by promoting better metabolism. Soothing the central nervous system, Tai Chi promotes relaxation, improves blood circulation, and increases the flow of oxygen through slow, deep, and coordinated breathing.

My grandchild has been a student here for just a little while. I’m concerned because the business website does not say if the teachers have any clearances for working in close proximity with children. So I asked One of the people who works there and she said they are not required to have the clearances. She seemed rather evasive in her dialogue with me, and came across quite rude, like I was inconveniencing her. In this day and age, you can not be too careful, and I was appalled by her blasé attitude.
