Services
Debora Chasse has been a California resident for the past 40 years. She earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Loma Linda University in 2006 and received her masters degree in Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Health Science from Loma Linda University in 1996. Debora began practicing Women's Health Physical Therapy in 1999 and is one of the few experts in both pelvic floor physical therapy and lymphedema.
Lymphedema is a medical diagnosis describing impairment due to damage to the lymph vessels or lymph nodes. Lymphedema is an excessive chronic swelling of a limb or body part that causes scarring of connective tissue, damaging the skin so that it no longer supports adequate lymph flow, which results in a back-up of lymph fluid in the affected limb.
A pregnant woman experiences one of the most amazing physiological, psychological and emotional changes that occur in a woman's lifespan. Although pregnancy is a natural process, some woman experience difficulty adjusting to these postural changes, such as back pain, numbness in the arms or hands, aching legs, swelling, pelvic joint pain, or the latent effects of previous trauma or disease.
Physical therapy can decrease the strain that pregnancy places on the body as a woman's body goes through many changes. As the baby grows, her center of gravity changes, which affects her posture. This results in a shift in the workload of her muscles and a relaxing of her ligaments as they prepare for birth.
The pelvis is comprised of 2 pelvic halves (the ilium), the sacrum and the tailbone (coccyx). The ilium is shaped like a bowl and provides support for the pelvic organs: vagina, bladder, uterus, rectum and bowel. In the male pelvis, there is no vagina or uterus; instead there is a penis with a longer urethra and a prostate.

I am so very grateful to Debora Chasse, owner of Function Ability Physical Therapy, She fixed my stress urinary incontinence!! Really fixed it! I learned about her on a health podcast. I flew in for a week to have multiple sessions with her. Debora is a joy to be around and she so thoroughly knows pelvic floor issues in both men and women and lymph. She's one of THE best practitioners I've ever met!!

Dr Chasse is an absolute dream to work with. If you are looking for a typical physical therapist this is not it. He craft is truly artistic. Her ability to hone in on the needs of your body are almost spiritual. She makes sure that you walk away with the knowledge to care for yourself and understand what is happening in your body. She teaches you ways to supplement you sessions with her and supports you in connecting your mind and body. Highly recommended! If you are done with the typical treatments and want something more, she is it! Hoping to see her again soon!

I’ve been working with Debbie for about a year I think... she’s one of the best practitioners I’ve ever had. She pieced together my different symptoms and gave me some hope finally. I have some lymphatic issues and it helped me tremendously. Thanks Debbie. Xx

Amazing. Really helped me work through TBI issues. She is extremely knowledgeable about the body, mind, and how it connects. I drove 3 hours several times to see her because I saw results.

I have been receiving treatment from Dr. Chasse for seven weeks now and have noticed significant improvement in my many gastrointestinal tract problems. Before coming I had bad pains in my rib cage and lower intestinal pains which have improved significantly. The Visceral Manipulation has helped me tremendously. My breathing has also improved. I appreciate the individualized and compassionate care I have received from Dr Chasse.

So far after only a few therapy sessions, I have noticed a big decrease in my leakage esp when it comes out to working out. All these exercises that are given to you definitely help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. I'm in no way wanting to go though surgery so having this as an option was absolutely great.

I have lived with the symptoms of Interstitial Cystitis for many years, to the point where I manage and deal with it. So, when physical therapy was offered to me, I was very skeptical, “what can physical therapy do for IC?” I am so glad I decided to give it a try. I was very hesitant my first visit, however, by the end of my 2nd visit, I felt relief, and noticed a difference. My doctor taught me a technique I could do at home called MLD, and I was amazed by the results, so worth the time and concentration. My family even noticed, teasing me about my ankles. I definitely notice a difference

I have been working at Function Ability PT under Debora Hickman DPT for over a year now and I cannot believe how amazing my experience has been. Dr. Hickman usually takes 1-2 pre-physical therapy students as interns at her office and allows them the opportunity to learn from her. This place is unlike any other physical therapy clinic I have ever worked at or shadowed at (and I have been to several in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles). She is so incredibly in-tune with the body and I am constantly amazed at how she can identify and treat the underlying cause of even the most complex of cases.

I have been seeing Dr. Hickman since this last February. I am amazed at my results! She has been doing FSM (Frequency Specific Microcurrent), Manual Visceral Manipulation and Manual Lymphatic Draining on me. I have Endometreosis and usually have very painful and heavy menstrual cycles. Also, with breakthrough bleeding and cramping in between periods. For the last 5 cycles I have had very little to no pain. Also, very light bleeding. I can't believe it! I have never felt better! I also no longer have breakthrough bleeding or cramping in between periods. Overall I feel amazing and have more energy
