Services
At our funeral home, we understand the importance of family. We believe in treating your family as we would our own. To do that, it's best you know a little about us first - please explore this section so that you may learn about our caring staff, our beautiful facilities, and our history of service.
A loved one's passing often leaves us feeling adrift. While most elect to hold some type of memorial service, the breadth of options available can be overwhelming. We want to make it easier. We are here to help you create a service that befits the life of your loved one. This section contains useful information about funeral options, what to do when death occurs, information on writing an obituary, and recommended funeral etiquette.
Whether a death is sudden or expected, the loss of a loved one is indescribable. When you are in a heightened emotional state, even the most basic decisions can seem staggering. This section seeks to guide you through the immediate hours following a passing. If the person was not under hospice care, the police will have to be notified immediately.
Traditionally, a burial service involves a visitation and is followed by a funeral service. While the casket is typically present at both these events, it is your decision whether to have the casket open. You then have a number of options for interment. Decisions also need to be made on whether the body needs to be embalmed, what kind of casket to use, what cemetery to use and what to put on the gravestone.
Cremation is an increasingly popular option for many people, serving as an alternative to burial. Reasons for preferring cremation vary. Some religions request it, while other people consider it more environmentally conscious. Some may simply like the idea of cremation more. During cremation, the remains are placed in a special furnace and reduced to resemble coarse sand.

Unreal how incredible these people are. They handled all my petty and emotional insane requests like champs. Lisa, Bob and team were just incredible. Dad looked so amazing and peaceful.
Lisa calmed me down when I couldn’t breathe during the casket closing.
Prevatt took care of my mom 5 years ago and dad this March. I hate that I have to recommend a funeral home but I highly recommend them. These people are better than family. I had no understanding of how anyone could run a funeral home before this but I really believe they were made for this because of their incredibly sincere and generous

I am extremely pleased with the compassion of Prevatt Funeral Home. My family used their services when my 17yr old Daughter passed away unexpectedly on 12/12/17. Everyone at Prevatt Funeral Home is so nice. They truly care about their services and work very hard to help families though this difficult time. You are treated as a person, not as dollar signs. There were some obstacles that had to be worked around but Prevatt Funeral Home came through as promised! We were allowed to decorate the funeral home with Madison's most cherished memories. We even had a Miniature Horse outside to greet

Very good and caring place. The staff helped my family in its hardest time and did a great job. David especially A+. He made us feel at ease as much as possible with the whole unfortunate situation. We werent hurried or pressured to make any decision. I would recommend them to anyone who needs services in their families time of need.

Clarence was extremely professional and supportive during the unexpected loss of my Brother. He contacted another family owned funeral home where my Brother was and made all the arrangements for transportation and burial in Florida. Clarence and his staff took what was a difficult and stressful time and turned it into a well managed and affordable service. I'm so glad that I called Prevatt Funeral home. Thank you to all the staff that helped reduce the worries and stress.

After losing my 17 year old sister in December, 2017, and a terrible experience with another funeral director in the area, my parents contacted David at Prevatt and we are all so glad that they did. He turned the terrible experience into one that was beyond what we ever expected. First of all, he stayed late on the day we met him and never made us feel as if we were being rushed or inconveniencing him. He allowed us to bring two car loads of ribbons, trophies, pictures and even my sisters horse to the funeral home. Even while we were discussing how we would like things to be done David came up
