Odom's Optical was one of the founding optical companies in Mississippi. For nearly 70 years it has been a staple in the eye care community. Since the late Richard Odom started Odom's Optical in 1947, thousands of glasses have been provided to four generations of Mississippians in cities where 3 Odom brothers and their children had other locations.
These cities were Natchez, Vicksburg, Jackson, and Flowood, MS. Today, our office can be found in the Lefleur's East, North Jackson Community on the front side of Canton Mart Square. With the addition of Dr. McKinney-Evans several years ago, Odom's Optical has been transformed to a growing medical optometric practice-Odom's Eye Care Optical.

Services
Getting an eye exam in not just about getting eyeglasses and contact lenses. If Dr. McKinney-Evans has any concerns about your eye health during a routine eye exam, she may dilate you on that visit or schedule it on another day. If she needs to prescribe medications, order medical tests or other advanced procedures, or if she needs to refer you to another specialist she will discuss this with you.
We ask that you complete the paperwork prior to your appointment and bring it with you to your appointment. You will receive a confirmation call and/or text the day before your appointment to confirm it. If the patient is a minor (under the age of 18) they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Your health care FSA and cafeteria plan can be used to pay for vision care services, including glasses and contacts. You will be provided with an itemized receipt(s), which you will need to submit your claim(s). We do take walk-ins. We take walk-ins Monday through Wednesday 8:30am to 10:30am and Monday through Friday 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
Dr. McKinney-Evans and Odom's Eye Care Team members go out into the community and do free vision screenings. On Friday mornings, Dr. McKinney-Evans and Odom's Eye Care Team members pack up portable medical equipment, medical supplies, laptop computer equipment, frames, optical equipment and our coffee mugs and travel to a different nursing home facility each week.

Making an appointment was easy. The receptionist was very friendly, professional and helpful with the conversation. The day of the appointment arrived. There was practically no wait time. The doctor performed a very thorough examination and at the end of the examination shared and explicitly explain the course of action that needed to be taken. Dr. Evans prescribed glasses. I took possession of the classes today. The lenses are perfect. I can see better than ever. Dr. Evans knew just what to prescribe for me.
I will enthusiastically recommend Odom’s Eye Care to everyone that I meet.

I've always had great eyesight, however, since turning 40 last summer I've noticed some changes. I decided to give Odom's Eye Care a try because they were not only convenient but had great reviews. I've seen Dr. Thompson and Dr. Evans and they are both very thorough and friendly. Their staff is equally pleasant and helpful, I try to support local businesses any chance I can and places like this are the reason why.

I would not recommend this facility only due to them getting my prescription completely wrong. The prescription that I received was completely invalid, ordered glasses online and due to having the incorrect prescription I was not able to use the glasses. I tried to wear the glasses and got a headache due to the prescription being too strong, I will not revisit this facility.

Dr. Evans is an excellent optometrist, but the staff and service is horrible, very unprofessional, make appointments for exams and when you show up for appointments it's a sign on the door due to staff continuing education, we apologize for the inconveniences,. That is unfortunate for you to intentionally sabotage the reputation of the company with incompetent personnel.

I was nervous about getting my new glasses adjusted from Odom's because I didn't purchase them there, but I had a wonderful experience! A staff member assisted me after only a few minutes and quickly and expertly adjusted my glasses to a perfect fit so they wouldn't hold my head in a vice grip anymore. I would definitely go back!

Pricey but if like me wearing glasses since 5 y.o. safety is more a factor. Don't trist your eyes with just anyone. I liked Mr. odom. I do not not know the new owner. Bill is the optician you need to see. I know he has been around since 1985. This 2:1 sales are a gimmic owned by the same frame company in Italy. I know they can ground their own lenses to fit now in shop!
Your always able to be cared for 100%. It is not volume business with saleman making a commission. I will comfortately say for your replacements @ Odoms if you need a new pair you will look professional and feel comfortable...
