Like My Own Home Inspections was first conceived when my daughter and her husband were in the market for a home. Although very intelligent and highly educated people, they knew very little about what to look for in a house. With my experience I was able to tour several of the houses they were looking at and point out the pros and cons of each.
If you are already a homeowner, a home inspection may be used to identify problems in the making and take preventative measures which might avoid costly repairs in the future. If you are planning to sell your home, you may wish to have a home inspection performed prior to placing your home on the market.
Below is a generalized list of items included in my full home inspections. There is not enough space here to list everything that will be inspected. Parts of a house that would have to be damaged to inspect or are unsafe to inspect will not be inspected. If you have any questions regarding the scope of my home inspections, please call me.
I am also certified to perform Radon testing. Radon is a gas that is present all around us, but is extremely dangerous if found in concentrated levels in your home. The EPA and the US Surgeon General both recommend that all homes be tested for Radon to ensure your family's health and safety. Additionally, South Central Wisconsin has shown very high levels of Radon in state testing.

My wife and I were first time home buyers and had never hired a home inspector before. We are so glad we called Tom! He showed up early and had already inspected the roof by the time I showed up.

Tom inspected the house for us. He is not only professional and thorough, but also friendly and kind. When I arrived at the site late, Tom was already finished the inspection. He still showed me around and explained all his findings patiently. The same day evening I received his report with all minor and major issues of the house along with his recommendations. I highly recommend him when you need a reliable home inspector.

It was so easy to set up an inspection through the company website. Mr. Gilbride was excellent to work with. He accommodated the date and time I needed to get the inspection done. He arrived early, met with my realtor and went right to work. He was amazingly thorough. I greatly appreciated his willingness to share information and his expertise with me on some of the mechanical systems in the unit while he was inspecting. He took the time to provide valuable information.

Tom did our inspection and it was wonderful. He was on time and took a great deal of time to go over things with us. We had our report within a few hours of the inspection and he was an amazing person to work with. Would definitely work with him again and would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to work with a professional and get peace of mind on a home purchase.

We had a great experience with Mike from Like My Own Home Inspections. They have an excellent web site that explains their history and the excellent reviews are what allowed us to trust Mike to inspect the house for us. Mike arrived early and was extremely thorough with all areas of the inside and outside of the house. He took the time to explain what he was looking at and what he was seeing. Anything that he saw that might need attention, Mike explained to us in detail and was also documented in his 32 page report that included pictures. Absolutely a wonderful guy to work with. He is very personable and gives you his true, honest, and professional opinion in your inspection as if he were buying the house. As new home owners, we had no idea what to look for in a home as far as electrical work, appliances, basement foundation, etc. He walked us through things to look for and gave advice on certain areas of the house. Two months later, we had a question about something in our basement, he came back over and gave us his unbiased opinion. Great guy!

I called Like My Own Home Inspections to get a home inspection on a house I was looking to purchase and I couldn't be happier with calling Tom. We was very prompt on returning calls/emails and was easy to work with. He is flexible with his schedule so getting an appointment setup was a easy to do. He is very professional and does a thorough job inspecting all aspects of the house. I was there during the inspection and he answered all my questions. His final report is easy to follow and if he does find any problems, he takes pictures to physically show you what/where it is.

My wife and I were drawn to Tom at "Like My Own Home Inspection" after reading his desire to get into the business from experiences he had with his family and wanting to inspect a home like it was his own.
