The Bright Street Property was an existing tenement apartment building converted to full floor condo units. The existing unit consisted of a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom layout with small enclosed rooms. We created an open concept plan and upgraded the existing bedrooms and bathroom to make this condo look like a modern and hip living space.
The existing 2 bedroom unit was comprised of several small rooms. The clients had a baby on the way and needed a more functional unit and more open floor plan. The scope included the renovation of the living/dining space, kitchen, bathroom, and master closet. Construction started in early August and the project was completed in November.
We started this project with a blank canvas. It was an existing basement of a 3 story row home on First Street. We converted the space into a one bedroom, one bathroom unit for the family to rent for income. Since it was on the garden level of the unit we used light colors of whites and grays to brighten up the space.

We recently renovated an old row house in downtown Jersey City. All renovations are challenging, but this was a gut renovation during a global pandemic.
If we didn’t have Kristin’s calming presence, creative design solutions and deep understanding of historical architecture, modern design and the nuances of city government we never would have survived it.
I can’t recommend Hopkins Clegg Architects enough. If we do any sort of renovations going forward, we’re working with Kristin and Hopkins Clegg….hopefully not during a pandemic next time.

It was a pleasure working with Kristin from Hopkins Clegg Arichitects. My parents needed an architect to assist in drafting the front porch as they needed to get the entire platform replaced. She walked us through the entire process down to the finalization. There were a couple of hiccups that we ran into with our contractor and city hall in which we had to make revisions to the drawings (due to no fault of her own). She worked on it right away and provided us with new drawings in a short period of time. We really appreciate her patience and quality work that she has provided.

Hopkins Clegg Architects are professional, thoughtful and very well-informed. My husband and I contracted their services in August of 2017 to renovated our bare-bones basement into a 1-bedroom apartment. They walked us through the whole construction process from plans to final inspections. During the drafting process, Kristin listened to our "wants/needs" for the space and designed 3 different option and went through all the pros and cons of each. Once we decided, they helped us with the bidding process, again explaining the pros and cons of each bid. They highlighted important information and
