Services
We're pleased to welcome you to our facility located at 1480 B Street in Merced, Evergreen Funeral Home & Memorial Park has been an operating Cemetery since 1872. Our grounds have vastly expanded since our beginning years, with the creation of Merced's only outdoor and indoor mausoleums. As well as the recent Avenue of Lights Niches, a simple tour of our grounds greatly shows the many options we have to offer to you and your loved ones.
Traditionally, a burial service involves a visitation, followed by a funeral service in a church, or other places of worship. The casket is typically present at both these events, and it is your decision on whether to have the casket open or not. You have the option of having the remains interred (earth burial), or it may be entombed in a crypt inside a mausoleum (above-ground burial).
Evergreen Funeral Home & Memorial Park requires the use of a concrete grave liner or standard concrete vault for traditional in ground burials. Evergreen Funeral Home & Memorial Park requires the use of a crypt tray for traditional entombments. Evergreen Funeral Home & Memorial Park requires the use of a Durable Plastic Urn Vault for in ground interments.
Prior to drafting any contract for goods or services, the responsible party or the decedent's survivor who is handling the funeral arrangements is entitled to receive a copy of any preneed agreement in the possession of the funeral establishment that has been signed and paid for, in full or in part, by or on behalf of the decedent.
Cremation is an alternative to the burial process and it is chosen by many people because of religious beliefs, the desire to preserve the environment or it was requested by the person who died. Cremation is also a less expensive option in comparison to a burial.

The remains are placed in a container that is combustible and placed in a special furnace called a cremation chamber or a crematory where through intense heat is reduced to bone fragments that are then crushed and pulverized to resemble course sand. The cremated remains of an average adult body will weigh about 7-8 pounds.
