The Chatham ( Bassett Family Heritage ) House was originally built in 1925 as one of the first houses on Jupiter Island. In the 1950's, due to damage from hurricanes, the house was redesigned to resemble traditional Colonial Architecture. Upon viewing a photo of the original 1925 house, Richard L. Seaberg suggested to the Client that the house be renovated back to the 1925 style of architecture.
This Condo Unit overlooking the Atlantic Ocean has been completely renovated to mirror the very clean, dramatic style of modern Architecture. All building components were updated and the newest materials were used to create the look that the Client and Richard L. Seaberg desired. The completed Condo reveals the versatility of modern materials, new techniques and crisp contemporary furnishings by RLS Interior Design.

Every new design starts with a Concept. The Concept is arrived at by discussions with the Client in order to understand their thoughts and desires. With the information from those informal discussions with the Client, Richard Seaberg prepares a conceptual design study for the project. From those study sketches he creates a hand drawn color Concept Presentation.
There is an old saying, " if these walls could talk" : meaning that if the walls of a house could talk they would have so much to say about the lives of their inhabitants. And so houses are very important to me, especially older houses, as an instrument of learning about the past.
The "way it was" will most likely be "the way it will be" as history does repeat itself; so if we listen to the past we can learn more and possible build a better future!It is going on twenty eight years now that I have returned every year to Hope Town in the Abaco Islands of the Bahamas. Some years my visits were extended to three or four times a year.
