If I could give Maine Coast Vet clinic 10 stars, I would do that. We have an eight year old lab who came with us this summer. She had some health issues, and my best friend here in Maine recommended Dr. Melissa Carrol at Maine Coast. We so happy that she was able to be seen. Dr Carroll and her team were wonderful. They were caring and knowledgeable and successfully treated our dog. We had a couple of follow up visits which went well. Thank you so much for all of your great work!

Jade had me worried. The “wonder cat” uses Pretty Litter and when she used it her urine turned a rust color which could indicate kidney issues. Maine Coast Veterinary Hospital was able to fit us in. Jade… typically doesn’t like going anywhere especially to the vet but she met a wonderful Vet in Dr. Melissa Carroll who is apparently a cat whisperer. Jade let Dr. Carroll hold her (not something Jades let me do for more than 15 seconds) as well as poke and prod. After a UTI Urinalysis it was determined this fabulous feline is fine albeit a touch dehydrated. Jade and I have

I had my 11-year-old standard poodle in a few days ago after a severe bout of vomiting. I am up for the summer and do not usually use this vet clinic, though I brought my younger dog in a few years ago and liked the place -- unfortunately did not read the reviews that it had been subsequently sold.
They gave him IV fluids and some meds and told me that I should take the dog to Portland for a sonogram to check his liver as some values were high. They told me "he did well" at the clinic that day and cleared him to go home the same day. $850. I had to call and pester them after the visit for a prednisone

I visit Deer Isle frequently to visit my parents and I bring my feline family with me. MCVH has seen two of my cats before (and has records for them). One of my cats has developed upper respiratory symptoms, and as he is 21 years old, it's important to treat that early. I called MCVH yesterday, and I was told that they were very busy but that I should have my cat's most recent records transmitted to them from his regular clinic and they would do their best to squeeze me in. They said they would call later in the day. I didn't hear from them yesterday so I called again this morning

After 15 plus years of taking our pets to MCVH we made the choice last year to switch clinics. Although MCVH was more expensive than most it seemed doable because Dr. Phlor was an amazing and loving vet. After he retired along with Mary at the front desk, MCVH was no longer a place I felt comfortable taking our dog. It became increasingly difficult… to get him in and we were often quoted outrageous amounts for procedures that ended up being unnecessary. After difficulty getting our dog in for his yearly shots, one of which was his distemper vaccine, we also received a letter that they were

For years we had obtained wonderful, compassionate and competent care for our pets from Dr. Greg Thibideau and Dr. Bob Plohr. When the new group took over, the cost of care skyrocketed and became very disjointed. We were shuffled from provider to provider. Continuity of care became non-existent. Wait times became extravagant, and no notice was… given re: how much longer we might be waiting. When the pandemic struck, we were not warned, until we arrived at the appointment, that we would not be able to stay with the pet during her visit. One visit took over four hours, with no notification

Had my 6 month olds cat spayed today. She popped off her collar twice. I called and the suggestion was to put on an infant sized shirt. Well I don’t have any infants. Then they said to go to Ellsworth to get a different collar. I just spent over 450.00 to get my cat taken care of. They have no other sized collars in stock. Then I got an attitude.… They can’t possibly stock every size collar. Well for what they charged me I think I should expect more then” your on your own”. Will never go back and will tell everyone I can about the service I got( for 450.00.) shameful

Traveling with a dog is always a challenge. My 17 year old Airedale Gryphon developed congestive heart failure while on vacation in Blue Hill When I called the staff (darlene) was so very kind to us and while they were very busy she got us in on emergency visit with Dr Mc Donagle. This woman is so special and kind. Responsive to our needs and more importantly to Gryphon's. The vet techs were also really thoughtful and did a great job of assessing our dog. Sadly Gryphon passed but it was a very quiet and peaceful passing. My husband and I are greatful we found Maine Coast Vet hospital. Thank you

I’m in process of transferring care to Bangor. So far to drive, but whatever conglomerate bought this practice hasn’t done it any favors. Almost all vets left at some point not long ago, and for a while, they sent letters suggesting everyone find new vets. Even before this though, they were focused on your wallet; Not all the providers, of course,… but that’s how I felt almost every time I left “wow, I paid twice what I would have somewhere else, and that’s what this felt like to me... a extraction of $”. Sad. It’s like the veterinary equivalent

We were on vacation and needed a visit to check out our dog. The staff at Maine Coast Veterinary is incredible! So friendly, professional and wonderfully caring! They cared for our pet as if she were a regular patient! We can’t thank the team here enough for the great care! If we need care again while on vacation, we won’t hesitate to come back!

The staff here is super attentive, responsive, friendly, and professional. When our cat stopped eating, we brought him to see Dr. Karen James, who diagnosed the issue as a tartar build up, cleaned his teeth thoroughly, did a full blood work up, and patiently helped us to understand his numbers and how he was doing. Our cat recovered fully and is in top health again! Additionally, Dr. James was super responsive when we had a last minute emergency, and got back to us with what we needed in a few short hours. This place is clean, friendly, and awesome. Highly recommend!

We were on vacation and one of our dogs developed a problem that needed medical attention. Dr. Albrecht saw our dog the day we called to make an appointment. Our dog is normally kind of fierce (and quite large), but somehow she "read" him correctly and by the time she approached him he was wagging his tail. Turns out, our dog has a medical problem that will require surgery which we will have to do when we get back home in about a week. In the mean time, we're so grateful that Dr. Albrecht was so great handling our dog, diagnosing his problems (he was x-rayed and then sedated for
