A funeral service is a ceremony that is conducted with the deceased's body present. It generally takes place from a few days to a week after someone has passed away. Many funeral serices are conducted in the place of worship of the deceased, or of his or her family. Funeral services may also take place entirely at the funeral home, or in a cemetery chapel, or be held in conjunction with any of the following services.

To begin to answer that question, it is helpful to understand that a funeral is for the living. A funeral provides closure for what is often an unfortunate occurrence - the passing of a loved one. A funeral is a way to say goodbye, but it is also much more than that; it's an opportunity to celebrate the life of someone special, and can actually enrich the memories of the deceased for those who are left behind.
Decomposition of the body in the earth (after burial) is the slow oxidation of the body tissues. No casket is legally required for cremation, just a simple container, which is strong enough to hold the body. This could be a box of rough boards, pressboard, or heavy cardboard. The cremated remains can be kept by the family - and perhaps memorialized - in an urn or other container.

Tom, Jill, and staff provided outstanding service in my family's time of need. From the initial intake to the final prayer, our needs were more than adequately and respectfully met.
Both of my parents were entrusted to the Kinnick family, and my sister and I are most appreciative of everything they have done. Our 5 star rating is but a small token of our gratitude.
Thank you.
