The Vaschak Funeral Home in Youngstown, Ohio was founded by Joseph G. Vaschak, Sr. in 1907. The funeral home was first located on Front Street then later moved to the former Burdman Home, which was located on Lincoln Ave. It was said that the prior owners told Joseph Vaschak when he was ready to move from that location, the building would be torn down rather than sold.
It was at that time that the new Vaschak Funeral Home was built and established at 3100 Canfield Rd. in Cornersburg. At the same time, Michael J. Kirila, Sr. owned and operated the Kirila Funeral Home at 258 Poland Ave, in Struthers Ohio, which he founded in 1952 after moving to Youngstown from Mercer, PA.
