Dr. Donald Good founded the practice in March of 1971 after completing a general dentistry residency at the Veterans Administration in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began with three dental chairs in the basement of First National Bank in downtown Ames while also practicing in Madrid, Iowa. As his Ames practice grew he sold the Madrid office and added two more chairs to the office in Ames.

Pain can occur in any number of places in your mouth: teeth, gums, roots, the palate, tongue and jaw. Cavities are a common culprit causing pain. Untreated cavities can impact nerves because of infections of the tooth and gums. Impacted and abscessed teeth and sore jaws from teeth grinding are other common causes of pain.

It's a shame I only found this place as I was about to move out of Ames. I am someone who absolutely loathes the dentist, but when one of my fillings cracked, I had no choice but to come in. I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years and they did a thorough examination (gum level, cancer screen..the whole nine). Kelly did my regular cleaning as well as deep cleaning on both sides and she was better than any person that has cleaned my teeth. She was more gentle and more accurate and most of all she didn't berate and lecture me about how I need to clean my teeth better. My teeth have never felt

Always have an incredibly pleasant experience when visiting Ames Family Dental. When you don't have to go in outside of your routine visits but feel recognized and like a part of the family is the best type of dental experience you can get! To top it all off the hygienists and doctors are very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable!

I couldn’t have been more impressed and satisfied with my recent visit to Ames Family Dental! The incredible service, amazing attention to detail, and the friendliest staff made for the most amazing experience. As someone who has had a lot of fear and nervousness about going to the Dentist, I was thrilled to be immediately greeted with patience and kindness. My dental hygienist was informative, friendly, and sensitive to my nerves and did an amazing job at not only improving the health of my teeth but making them look glossy and white!
