Dr. Matthew Durkin grew up in the Rochester, NY area where he graduated from Webster High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Gannon University and salutatorian from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Durkin has practiced optometry in Norwich, NY, Albany, NY and Syracuse, NY since 1999.
We are excited to utilize his expertise in comprehensive medical eye exams, contact lens fitting, children and adult vision care, low vision therapy, and geriatric care.He desires to educate and inform patients as he goes through the examination process.

Dr. Dana Mitchell had her first eye exam with Dr. Richard Malara when she was in 4th grade. His emphasis on "Professional Eyecare with a Personal Touch" has inspired her journey towards becoming that kind of eye doctor. Born and raised in Baldwinsville, NY, she will be serving the community that she called home for so many years.

I absolutely love this place ! Everyone is so friendly, helpful, and prompt. From the minute you walk in the bright, well designed office, you are made to feel important. The Doctors that I have seen over the past few years, are extremely personable and knowledgeable. I normally see Dr. Malara, and I honestly, have nothing but positive comments to share about him, and his entire staff. I have been in a few times this past month, trying to get just the right lenses, and they have been so accommodating. I love this place !!

What a fantastic experience. Aside from the Secretary at the start, everyone was exceptional. The doctor was professional and thorough. He took time to explain everything. He remembered my questions and answered them completely. There was zero wait time. The optometrist was focused on my needs and how best to accommodate. They showed me exactly what's covered by my insurance. Absolutely fantastic visit.

Great experience as a first timer. The staff and Dr. Mitchell were all very friendly and helpful. I was really impressed how Dr. Mitchell took her time in advance of my appointment to review my records and was prepared and up to speed on my history, which made the appointment go smoothly and our time very productive. I had a great visit and I highly recommend this clinic.

I'm glad I found Malara Eyecare. My insurance changed a couple years ago and had to change doctor's to get "in network". The staff and Dr. Malara are very helpful, accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. They include me in the decision making process while ensuring a high level of care. Overall excellent experiences in the three years I've been seeing them.

I brought my mom for an appointment and we had a great experience at Malara Eyecare today. The location is very convenient, the stuff is vey efficient and doctors are attentive and professional. The appointment was pleasant from the beginning to the end. It is great to have a place with kind smiley faces even though you visit a doctors office. Even kids were enjoying their time in the waiting area. Thank you for taking care of us
