Working as a sub-contractor for national flooring companies, he acquired hands-on experience and earned a reputation as a reliable, honest person. Utilizing these skills he began a flooring business; Allstate Carpet, focusing on the installation of carpet.
Allstate Carpet soon earned a reputation throughout the Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. for reliability, integrity and quality workmanship. In 1996, the business was incorporated and Jose expanded his team. Moving away from the traditional model he embraced the concept of team work throughout the organization.

They laid my carpet in 3 bedrooms, hallway and living room. Very poor job. Seams show, carpet wasn't stretched, chipped my tile floor at the edges of the carpet, scratched my baseboard, put seam in the high traffic area, didn't match the bias in part of the hall, didn't tuck the carpet on the crawl accesses and more.... I was VERY disappointed.
