Brookside Tavern

Went here today with a friend to watch the Game. This was place had a good friendly crowd and the bartender was nice. We ordered two orders of wings with celery & Blue cheese (we ordered two different flavor wings) and some beers. The food took forever to come out. When it finally came to the table, the wings were under cooked (raw inside) and both orders tasted the same. The server told us that they are sorry but they ran out of celery. We asked if we could have carrot sticks in it’s place and she said sure. Moments later we received 4 small carrot sticks and the server said she is sorry but

I came here with my family and it’s a nice cozy and friendly environment with awesome and that authentic smoke bbq flavor 😋. The owner is a really humble guy and a good host.

LET went to Hocus Smokus BBQ which is inside the same building as Brookside Tavern. Honestly one of my best experiences dining out. The staff was very accommodating even though we showed up very close to closing time, the food was absolutely delicious and the place was really cute and comfortable. It was a last minute find that we will be planning for next time we're in the area. I wish I had caught the gentleman's name that served us last night (11/6) but he was so nice. Looking forward to next time!

Definitely the spot for BBQ. Love their hush puppies and Buffalo bites. Had their Prime rib and it definitely hit the spot. Prime rib was very tender. Going going back.

Some of the best food and service to be found! The staff is super friendly and accommodating and the head chef is very knowledgeable of various dietary restrictions and is willing to adjust dishes as necessary. I can't possibly say enough nice things about this establishment! If you enjoy good food and to be treated well by people who genuinely seem to care if you're enjoying your experience, this is the restaurant for you!

Didn't even try anything off their BBQ menu, but we had 3 apps and a burger that were insane! Would definitely return if we're in the area again and would recommend to everyone.

Stopped here randomly, went on the earlier side for dinner and we really enjoyed dinner. Friendly waiter, food was great, zero complaints from us.

We started with pickle fries, so unique! Yes I've had fried pickles (usually pickle chips) but never like this. Delicious.

We ordered half ribs, which were probably the best ribs either of us have had in a long time. The meat fell off the bones and was delicious! The brisket was ehh, it was mostly dry other than the few pieces at the bottom of the container that were sitting in juice. The chicken had a great tasty and was moist.

As for sides, the Brussels sprouts ... skip these. The macaroni and cheese was out fo this world, order it! Tater tots were cooked

When you immediately throw out the leftovers you know the food wasn't great. This was a delivery order.
Chicken was completely dry and over cooked.
Brisket was overdone, dry and flavorless.
Cornbread was overdone and tasteless.
See a pattern here? The food was all over cooked and lacked flavor. Thankfully we had a bottle of Sweet Baby Rays sauce at home which made it edible.

Came here for dinner once and overall it was pretty solid food. To start the hush puppies and the Buffalo mozzarella sticks were good to start. Then for an entree I got a pound of baby back ribs with fries and coleslaw as top sides and was good overall.

VERY yummy BBQ - The specials are always delicious! The Fried Pickles are mouth watering 😍 You NEED to try this place.

This is first time I am writing a review. I just had to tell everyone about this wonderful restaurant. Had a party yesterday Saturday for 13 people and the service and the food was fabulous. Our waiter Kyle was so great. I recommend anyone having dinner or a party to go to brookside. The ribs and chicken were delicious. And all the sides too. The chips are outrageous!! Will be returning soon

I spoke with Tom co-owner (Hocus Smokus) when I got there. Very personal and friendly.This was our first time. Everything was absolutely delicious. First time, in a long time, I got pulled chicken that was not dried out. The Ribs are phenomenal. The corn bread was spot on. Pulled pork to doe for. Seriously solid brisket. This will be my go to BBQ place in Rockland county from here on out.

Honestly, this place had been very average for a long time, however something has changed. They now have next level bar food. The dry rub wings are amazing, the Buffalo mozzarella sticks are damn near life changing and even the tater tots hit differently. It doesn't hurt that all of their bartendresses are smoking hot. Give it a shot if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed. Oh ... and the bbq isn't great but it's not bad either.

Absolutely the best BBQ, Pizza, and wings in the area. A great local place with spacious outdoor seating and social distanced inside seating - given the current status of restrictions due to covid 19. Curbside-contactless pick up is great too, but if you are looking to get out of the house, try the outdoor/indoor dining or bar area. My personal favorites include the plain pie, brookside salad, any of the wings options, and most recently the Rancher pizza topped with grilled chicken, ranch, and bacon. Happened upon this little gem by accident and so glad we did! Great bbq and brisket. The tornado fries were a meal all on their own and soooo good. We are discussing making another trip here to try out more of the menu. Owner is very friendly. Def recommend checking them out!

This place was amazing! Our server was so kind and the patio is small, but perfect during the day. It's pet friendly and they even gave my pup a bone! All of our food came out so hot and it was all delicous. The Knoxville burger was spicy and so good. 10/10 recommended the buffalo bites and fried pickles. The buffalo bites were even great for leftovers later!

Took a shot at this place while debating for lunch today. Lemmon pepper wings.....omg where they amazing. I have had lots of lemmon pepper wings, but these take the cake!! Absolutely delicious, will 100% be eating here again.

We visited once before and the food was okay. They didn't have ANYTHING we actually wanted to order but what we did get wasn't bad.

Today we decided to give them another shot and ordered from home. Everything with the delivery was good. Order was correct and delivery was on time. However, the food was almost inedible... everything we ordered was HEAVILY salted. We ordered wings, which were still pink on the inside (aside from the excessive salt), pork belly tacos, Burnt end beans, fries and Mac n cheese. Everything just overly doused in salt. Wonderful addition to the Valley Cottage area. Barbeque is delicious and my son says the wings are even better than Buffalo Wild Wings. Prices are decent. They have nice outdoor space in the back that's cozy and comfortable. Makes you feel like you are hanging out in someone's backyard. Definitely give a try.

Freaking delicious. Would recommend coming here as often as you can. Food is so damn good, great staff and overall delicious. I recommend the mussels and the burgers although the portions they give are huge! So be ready to come back and try more!

Food is tasty for pub-grub & kids eat free Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday! My son was a huge fan of their innovative fries but not so much on their chicken fingers. My brisket burger was tasty. The server was kind & attentive but busy with a large party.

What's the matter with BBQ places up north? The first deadly sin is NOT having BBQ sauce in squeeze bottles at every table! The second is not giving bread, rolls or hush puppies along with a pile of meat! They failed at Both!

Fried pickles were awesome! Ribs were OK - smoke flavor but lacking in rub/sauce. Brisket was just stringy with little sauce or rub - looked like it came out of an Instant Pot LOL. Wings ok. Corn bread was awesome! Asked for BBQ sauce, and she brings out Au Jus!

I came with a party of five on a Thursday night. My overall experience was mediocre. We ordered: fried pickles, 3 flavors of wings (firecracker, remy, and hot), pepperoni pizza, brisket sandwich, half rack of ribs, a burger, and fish and chips).

The restaurant was understaffed and it took an unreasonable amount of time for our food to arrive at our table. The fried pickles were great. Fresh, crispy, good dill flavor. Honey BBQ wings are very tasty... and you can choose from 18 flavors. 5 wings for $8, 10 wings for $13.
The smoked brisket dip sandwich with melted swiss on garlic bread with BBQ au jus to dip your fries.
Bar service = very sweet.
Next time will try the corn soufflé just couldn't fit it in.

I recently ordered takeout from brookside and was pleasantly surprised. The burger was cooked perfectly which is a rarity for takeout and the fries were delicious. I had to wait a little bit to pick up my takeout order but it was mainly because the restaurant was busy on a Saturday night.
Can't wait to try some of the barbecue, my son had chicken tenders which were awesome!
