1965 - John K. Purvis (Frank's Sensei) founded the Hamilton Judo Club. Mr. Purvis is credited as being the "father" of Hamilton Judo; Sensei Purvis had a dream of putting Hamilton on the judo map nationally. He was responsible for importing Mr. Young Nam Chung to Hamilton, an All Korean Champion who became the Head Instructor.
1971 - Mr. Purvis invited Mr. Chung's younger brother, Young Jin Chung, (also an All Korean Champion) to come and join the instructional staff at the Hamilton Judo Club. Young Jin Chung stayed about 3 years and then opened his own Judo/Karate Schools in Dayton. 2011 - The Hamilton Judo Club changed its name to Budokai Judo & Jiu-Jitsu and became a member of the North America Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
