In 1946, after serving our country in the United States Marine Corps as an aviation technician during World War II, Stanley A. Szwed Sr. opened Swede's Jewelers on Main Street in Windsor Locks, CT. Specializing in expert watch repair, it wasn't long before Swede's offered the finest in diamonds, colored stones, watches and gold jewelry, in large part due to the support and help of Stanley's wife, Alice.
When Main Street was redeveloped in 1974, Swede's Jewelers relocated to its current location in East Windsor, CT and transitioned into a true family business as Stanley's daughter Elaine and sons Robert and Stan Jr. launched their jewelry careers.

Swede's Jewelers is the best place to go. We recently got engaged (!!) and decided to design a ring ourselves. When I came in with a completely incoherent description of what I was looking for, Rob helped us through our options and gave advice on what was and wasn't a good idea to make sure the ring would last. Together we created the most perfect ring. He provided different computerized images of the ring we envisioned until it was perfect and was able to get a resin version of the ring before the real deal to ensure it was what we wanted. I support local businesses as much as I can and Swede's is a perfect example of why. The small-town feel and personal touch you only get at a family owned store like this. The service and hospitality was top notch and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. This was a big deal event, a life changing decision type of thing and not something to be taken lightly, and Swede's made it all perfect. I'll never go anywhere else again. Back on Mother’s Day I was in a panic mode to find a jewelry store that could make a necklace with all of our children’s birthstones. I found them on line and immediately drove there and told them if they could work a miracle for me!
They said it would be possible only if they could expedite the stones and get them into the piece by Saturday. I was there on Friday! evening!!!
They made it happen and my wife and the kids loved it!!! Today I went there on another Friday evening the day before my wife’s Birthday and again they came through with a beautiful necklace with matching earrings!

I had the most incredible experience at Swede’s. I needed my engagement ring resized, from the moment we walked in we were greeted by Annette who was the most helpful, kind and genuine. She was incredibly knowledgeable and walked us through the process. We had gotten previously turn away from jewelers due to my band having diamonds around most of it but Annette didn’t even hesitate in her confidence they would be able to size my ring correctly. She estimated it would be done in about a week but 5 HOURS LATER I GOT A PHONE CALL THAT MY RING WAS READY FOR PICKUP! There is an incredible group

I have a vintage poison ring that the clasp loosened on and wasn't keeping it shut. I walked in with the worried expectation that it may not even be fixable. While the jeweler looked at it, the woman behind the counter who waited on me was very easygoing and lovely to speak with. It only took a few short minutes before I had my ring back on my hand, with no charge for the small repair. I was beyond pleased with both of their wonderful dispositions and service! This place is my new go-to for jewelry repair.

I was gifted a beautiful ring and brought it to swedes to have it sized. The ring has a very thin band and I'm very rough on my hands as well as never taking the ring off. After some wear and tear the weld separated. I was devastated! My boyfriend brought the ring in and showed it to the owner who immediately apologized and said not to worry we'd have it back in a week. Not even 4 days later we got a call that it was ready. It looks perfect and we weren't charged for the repair. I would highly recommend this small very friendly jeweler!

Went awhile back because they said they buy diamonds. Had the appraisal from where the diamond was purchased and the quality of the diamond was very fine. Told me that it was a "princess cut" and not that "in vogue" anymore so the price would be quite lower than anything I wanted to sell for. 3/4 Ct diamond appraised value over 10,000.00 wanted me to give it to them for practically nothing. No thanks.

Just spent about 15 minutes standing around in Swede's Jewelry Store, being ignored by the clerks in favor of other people that got there after us. We walked in and went to the counter in back because we needed two neck chains repaired and one of the pendants engraved. Figured a local merchant was supporting our community. Boy, were we wrong. We were walked by at least three times. Apparently, wearing sweats didn't look big money enough for them. WILL NEVER go there again and caution anyone who does to wear your 'Sunday' best, pretend to shop around at the expensive counters
