Petrou Eye Care provides high quality, comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages with the understanding that preventive medicine is the key to healthy eyes and excellent vision. Low vision means that even with regular glasses, contact lenses, medicine, or surgery, people find everyday tasks difficult to do.
Christina Petrou received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1990 from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. After becoming an eye doctor, she continued her advanced training through dual residency at Chicago's West Side Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center specializing in hospital based optometry and ophthalmologic co management of glaucoma, ocular disease, inflammation, trauma, retinopathy, laser surgery, and cataracts.
During a comprehensive eye exam, your doctor is not only checking for the commonly known conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration, but also looking for other conditions which may potentially affect a your vision or overall eye health. I've been near sighted for almost 40 years and have seen a handful of providers. Dr. Petrou explained things about contact lenses and eye dilation that no one else has ever taken the time to tell me. Her passion for providing excellent eye care really came through. The staff runs like a well oiled machine and the office is conveniently located. I'm glad to have found my new eye doctor.

The good: Dr. Petrou did an excellent job examining my 4 year old.
The bad: We picked Dr. Petrou due to her good reviews and the fact that she is covered by our insurance (in network). We scheduled a basic checkup, and Dr. Petrou determined that she wanted to check our son's eyes further, but had run out of the eye drops to do the dilation, so asked us to make a follow up appointment. After the follow up appointment her staff gave us a bill for both visits. We were never warned that the services rendered were outside of a "normal" visit, and upon asking about the charges, were were told that the

I took my daughter to see Dr. Petrou. Essentially she suggested blue-screen, anti-glare glasses to help with her eye strain, caused by increased iPad use in virtual school. However, what she said to me, the parent, was "Your child's focus system is having problems". I pressed and asked, "Are these glasses for correcting her vision?" and she was so dismissive, in saying "Of course, they're prescription lenses". The glasses, through her office, were ~$270. I did not purchase them. I felt like she was hood-winking me by making me believe my daughter had a much worse problem that needed to be solved

I had a great first experience at Petrou Eye Care. Dr Petrou does a wonderful job explaining what she does and why she does it. She takes her time to teach you about your eyes, and most importantly, preventative strategies to keep them healthy. Her team is kind, considerate, and so helpful. I will definitely continue my care there.

Dr. Petrou and her staff are the best of the best. I have worn glasses or contacts all my life so getting really good vision care matters to me. They consistently have the best frames available in the entire Milwaukee area, and the staff is friendly and eager to help you find a pair. I don't have my husband sending me selfies from his eye appointment to help him narrow his selections down because the staff is on trend and they can take care of it. Dr. Petrou is also extremely thorough, friendly, and helps explain things in a way that makes sense to patients. I recently had to go in for a series

Just had my 6th complete eye exam at Petrou Eye Care. I continue to be impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the staff. The frame selection and assistance with styling is impeccable!

Dr Petrou did a very thorough eye exam and has the most up to date equipment. She spent a lot of time explaining everything. I have new insurance so i was able to see Dr Petrou and the office is near my home and open late two days to accommodate people's work schedules. My prior insurance optometrist did a very quick eye exam and i saw different optometrists over the years. I was able to make appointment and get in immediately. I arrived 20 minutes late and I was still able to see the doctor unlike at Ascension where you cannot be more than 5 minutes late. I recommend getting a complete medical

Incredible staff and customer service at Petrou Eye Care. The atmosphere is nothing but friendly. Dr. Petrou, among many things, is patient, intelligent, and professional. She never fails to perform thorough eye exams with reassuring explanations throughout the process. Both she and her staff are genuine in making you feel immediately comfortable, knowing you are in good hands, throughout your visit. This is the best care that my family and I have received, and I would strongly recommend her to anyone reading this review!

I have been going to Petrou Eye Care every year since 2013. Dr. Petrou is very thorough and she explains to you every step of the exam process and gives you helpful feedback. She is very attentive and I highly recommend her services.
The location is not far from the Pick n Save/Stone Creek shopping area in Glendale. If you are taking the bus, the 63 is the line you would need.

This was the most rigorous eye exam I have ever experienced. She was able to tell me what some of my issues were and offer solutions. They have great frames and help you pick out what looks best. There are also these great blue-light filtering lenses that have helped me reduce my headaches due to the fluorescent lighting at work. And they work with your insurance company to get you the best deal. I will definitely keep going back.

1. The staff is a little snarky and uppity (but this may be fitting for the area)
2. My insurance was listed on their website, but turns out they didn't really take it.
3. I got charged for an eye exam and a contact exam. This was never differentiated during the examination period. If I would have known that my eyes needed separate exams for contacts and glasses, I may have gone somewhere else that could do everything in one exam. I don't understand why I was charged an additional $125, or how that cost is justified.
