Our father/son team: Principal Engineer, Surveyor & Owner, Kevin J. Nelson, is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor providing services in California since 1985. With over 20 years experience regionally and in my capacity as County Surveyor for the County of Nevada, my longstanding professional relationships/connections plus common-sense approach to problem-solving ensures smooth and streamlined results for our clients.
His son, Kevin (nicknamed K2), serves as Party Chief for all the survey work and is also the Project Manager for the engineering design, drafting and preparation of maps and plans.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Fresno State University, Kevin began his career in San Diego where he worked for several firms over the course of eight years, steadily gaining in field experience prior to relocating to Northern California in 1993.
Joining the firm of Sylvester Engineering in Nevada City, he spent the next five years serving as Director of Engineering & Surveying prior to striking out on his own, establishing Nelson Engineering in 1998 in Penn Valley, CA as a full service Civil Engineering, Land Surveying & Land Planning firm for private and public projects.

Nelson Engineering has been involved in many Nevada County area projects and has a very good reputation in delivering high quality products for clients. I would recommend that any sort of agreement be captured in writing as the owner was unwilling to honor a verbal agreement which shorted myself as a subcontractor a large sum of money and brings into question the business ethics of the organization.
