Services
Dr. Joe Pitcavage is a board certified Optometrist, who graduated from Boston's New England College of Optometry in 2005, and ever since been practicing in the lowcountry. Originally from Raleigh, NC, he fell in love with Charleston (and his wife) when attending The College of Charleston and competing on their varsity sailing team.
Eye exams often include several tests and screening procedures, and at Lowcountry Eye Care, that also means a very comprehensive approach to your eye health and vision. Our technicians will lead you through several pre-screening exams in order to determine a baseline of your overall eye health. Automatic Visual Acuity and Refraction Tests: We use computerized eye exam equipment to determine your ability to see near and far.
The CDC recommends regular eye exams every year or two at an optical boutique. If you are experiencing any issues with your eyes such as decreased vision, pain, redness, halos, floaters, etc then it's time to make an appointment. Exams are simple and painless. Call one of our 4 locations to set up an appointment today.
At Lowcountry Eye Care Center we accept Eye Insurance including both Vision Insurance and Medical Insurance. Medical insurance generally covers ocular steroids and even medical eye exams related to complaints ranging from redness and allergies to cataracts and glaucoma. They will not cover material such as glasses and contacts.

Eye care is not something that I mess around with, so when I needed to get new frames and my eyes checked, I looked straight to Yelp and my fellow Elite's for assistance. Ryan H had such a good review of LCEC that I had to try them out, and I'm glad that I did. My appointment was scheduled ahead of time, and when I arrived, my wait time was only minutes, because I downloaded their documents from the website and had it ready before I arrived (hint, they appreciate this). The exam was comfortable and quite easy. They operate with the most up to date technology, which is always convenient

Joe Pitcavage is the man! I have gotten my last 3 pairs of glasses there and will go again. I was there recently for a drop-in of clients and it was one of the best events I have been to. They had a food truck there with New Orleans spread like shrimp poppers and some Cajun sauce and mufaleto(spelling) sandwiches. Beer and wine was available and they even had a raffle where I won some cologne. Lots to do for the kids and adults. I recently had to replace my glasses because I am just not good with them when on the water. I love the new glasses and hope to keep them for a while but if the
