At the Academy of Shorin-Ryu Karate & Mixed Martial Arts, our mission is to deliver high-quality martial arts instruction to individuals of all ages based on a foundation of Matsubayashi Shorin-ryu Karate and modern mixed martial arts. Training will be both mentally and physically challenging, encompassing proven, centuries-old martial arts techniques and the skills necessary to apply them in modern day self-defense.
Students will develop situational awareness, self-confidence, discipline, leadership skills, and improve their overall fitness. We here at the Academy of Shorin-Ryu Karate believe that your child should be taught respect, teamwork, discipline, and Martial arts Techniques. We pride ourselves in not being a commercialized Martial arts school. We do not promote to keep you and your child coming and creating a false sense of security.
At the academy, our classes are designed to build self-discipline, respect, honor and confidence. We teach traditional Shorin-ryu Karate in a fun, positive atmosphere. In This atmosphere, we help kids to challenge themselves both mentally and physically. We teach them to set goals, increase self-esteem, respect, courtesy for others, develop team building skills, and tools for dealing with bullying.
My son has been going for about 3 months and I couldn't be happier. They're big into discipline as well as actually teaching them martial arts. The classes are usually a combination of endurance training, standard Karate techniques and Judo. There's usually somewhere between 10-12 students at a time and at least 2 instructors leading the class.
