Martin Avenue Pharmacy was founded on Friday the 13th, in April of 1973, by Thomas Marks, R.Ph., with the philosophy of meeting patients' special needs. When the store first opened, the first employee working in Martin Avenue Pharmacy was Tom's mom. In order to keep with the tradition of keeping the business in the family, now his first born son, Matthew Marks, is working full time in the store, along with many other employees.
Martin Avenue Pharmacy, Inc. originally occupied approximately 400 square feet at 10 West Martin Avenue in Naperville, Illinois. During the course of a thirty-two year period, the store grew in size to over 3,000 square feet. The last renovation that occurred at the 10 West Martin Avenue address (the store's previous location) was completed in April of 1997.

Services
The preparation, mixing, assembling, packaging, or labeling of a drug or device as the result of a practitioner, patient, pharmacist relationship in the course of professional practice, or for the purpose of or as an incident to, research, teaching, or chemical analysis and not for sale or dispensing.
Discontinued products have often been removed from the market due to decreased drug utilization and declining manufacturer profits. However, there are often patients for who this product provided the best remedy. Using pharmaceutical-grade chemicals, a specially trained pharmacist with the proper equipment can compound a medication containing the same active ingredients as the discontinued product.
Not too many pharmacists can say they've received a thank you note from a family of gorillas; but Thomas G. Marks R.Ph. Batters Up! Sports medicine is another area served by compounding pharmacists, today. Naperville, Illinois Pharmacist Thomas G. Marks of Martin Avenue Pharmacy Inc. works closely with the Chicago White Sox, various NFL teams throughout the nation, as well as the Enforcers, Chicago's XFL football team.
Although Martin Avenue Pharmacy Inc. has been compounding for over 30 years, the profession of pharmacy was founded in the art and science of compounding medications. The beginning of compounding dates back to medieval times with priests, monks, and medicine men. Specialization first occurred in the early 9th century in the civilized world around Baghdad.
It is from this evolution of a pharmacist being the maker and compounder of medications that the word pharmacy is defined. The word pharmacy is defined as "the art of preparing and dispensing drugs or a place where drugs are sold; a drugstore." The word pharmacy originates from the Greek word pharmakon or remedy.

I picked up a prescription over 2 months ago, and I have been trying to get some additional information so as my insurance company will process the claim. I have called at least 2 - 3 times per week and left messages each time. No one has responded to my calls. It is rather frustrating and unprofessional for a business.

Spoke to a woman by the name of Tina that said she would call me back after she checks on my wife's prescription and never called. After 5 days of waiting and 4 voicemails, got a phone call back. Someone leaves a message for my wife asking us to call back and leave our credit card number with the CVV on a voicemail. seriously? We will never go there and they have lost our business. Called Mark pharmacy in Roselle and got it taken care of very quickly. We will use Mark pharmacy in the future.

This business needs to learn how to answer the phone and communicate. We called 4 times over 3 hours and only to be received by electronic operator. We left a message and still no communications. Then, after driving an hour, still no prescription is filled. After business hours, they called and had the audacity to ask for payment before commitment to delivery. We will not use this pharmacy and already spoke with our DR.

It's been one month since I dropped of my prescription and it hasn't been filled. During that month, I have phoned several times (no one answers the phone), and stopped by on three occasions. I was told someone would call, that the clerk couldn't locate the script, the pharmacist was at lunch -- I'd had enough! I stopped by today for the 4th and last time to retrieve my script and take my business elsewhere.
I understand that a compounding pharmacy doesn't turn things around like the average drug store, but the abysmal customer service and lack of communication leaves one to wonder how they stay

If I could give a zero I would. We spent over $6000.00 for our dog's surgery. She needed a human drug especially compounded for a dog so I had them call it in to Martin Avenue Pharmacy. The prescription was called in the day before she was to start the medication. I went to pick it up the following day which was the day she needed it, and not only was it not ready, but I was told that it would not be ready until the following day. The level of customer service was atrocious. Outside of the doddering elderly gentleman who waited on me (but did not help me!) you cannot reach a human being. I

Let me preface by saying this used to be our go to pharmacy for compounded medications. They have gone downhill so far in the last few years, it is hard to believe. Brought in a prescription for an anti-inflammatory cream, which does not appear to be covered by our insurance. Took forever for them to get back to us. Then they wanted to charge us a cash price of $325 for a small jar!!!On checking around the area we found a pharmacy much closer to us that would charge only $90 for the same product! Went back to the pharmacy to pick up our hand written prescription but they couldn't find it,

I have been calling the pharmacy for a week and no one is answering. I left a message with a live person on Sunday, but have still not heard back. My poor dog is about to run out of his important medication, and I cannot reach anyone to fill it. I always prefer to support local businesses, but when local businesses can't pick up their phones during business hours, it says a lot about the company. They lost a loyal customer today. I will now be using 1800petmeds.

We are fortunate to have a high quality compounding pharmacy during these times of big pharma. It gives us increased power and creativity over our health care. Big pharmacies use unhealthy fillers and preservatives in a lot of their prescriptions, especially in generic brands.
I am grateful for their service and I support. I thank Martin avenue pharmacy for having the courage to create medicines the right way, and to go up against the big companies.
When needed medications cause unneeded side effects, and these are due to non-essential ingredients, I am happy to be able to have things created

Judging from previous reviewers I am not alone in saying the service and communication at Martin Ave Pharmacy is beyond poor. After being told the evening before that my prescription would be ready in the morning I drove over an hour in the morning only to be told that I had to return in the afternoon. "I'm sorry" and "they should have called you back and told you" is too little too late to save my wasted day and more importantly not going to get my daughter the anti biotics that she needs. I will do my best to find another compounding pharmacy in the Chicagoland area before

This place was ok, I had to get a compound filled. It took forever, which I can understand if they need to order stuff, but even when it was ready no one called me to tell me. Trying to get refills of your prescription or paperwork to send off to your insurance company is simply a nightmare. No one ever answers the phone or listens to the voicemail. Twice when I walked in there the associates were having a conversation and made me wait while they finished talking. From what I remember they weren't discussing about anything important. Long story short I would never return here unless I *had

This pharmacy has given me the worst customer experience I've had. They promised me they would have a medication ready by the next day that I needed for my pregnancy. I paid over the phone the day before and my husband drove 45 minutes to pick it up the next day. He got there and they told him they couldn't have this until tomorrow. I then called them and no one could figure out why it wasn't ready. They went back and forth between my doctor and myself about this. They finally figured out it was in the fridge and it wasn't completely done. They told my doctor they could give

I needed a compound for a sinus infection and the pharm tech (very pushy lady with big hair) demanded I give her all of my personal contac info, my health insurance info, & a credit card on file to boot! before the pharmacist walks over and says that since it is 2pm on a Friday and their lab techs like to leave early on Fridays, about 4:30, and if they're already busy working on something, they may not have time to make my antibiotic, but she would call over there and see if they could. (Gee...can you spare the time for a sick working mother?)

I traveled 25 or so miles to pick up a specially made compounded prescription.
The pharmacist was fantastic on the phone, the item was ready when promised, the desk staff was outstanding and when I asked about delivery, they immediately offered the services they provide.
I couldn't be happier!
The only negative is finding the place if you're not super familiar with the area.

I went here for a compound prescription. Like others, I had to wait to pick up my prescription until the following day, which was fine. The problem I encountered was that their contract with my insurance company (Blue Cross/Blue Shield, not a minor company or one that's not mainstream!) had expired. They were "in the process" of renewing that contract with BC/BS, so I had to pay out of pocket for my full prescription ($90) and then would have to submit directly to BC/BS for reimbursement. Blue Cross requires that the pharmacy list out names of individual components of a compounded script along

DO NOT SHOP AT MARTIN PHARMACY!!!! In addition to an unreasonable return policy, and restocking fee, the manager was rude and insensitive! He did not back up his employee's promise. He turned his back walked away from the counter, yelling over his shoulder. I have seldom seen a small business treat a customer so rudely.
When I arrived, there was a woman ahead of me who turned around and told me they were the rudest people she'd ever met. I was surprised until I found out exactly what she meant. THEY CAN BET THEY WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER DOLLAR FROM ME AND I AM COMMITTED TO SPREADING

I spend a fortune here on pet meds (see my review of Petland), and I have numerous issues with the place.
First, my order is either not ready, lost, or incomplete at least 60% of the time. Obviously, someone is asleep at the switch.
Next, if you try to refill your order on the telephone, be prepared to suffer through at least 5 minutes of recorded blather relating to all manner of issues about which the majority of customers could care less: Returned check fees, shipping options, custom compounding lead times, etc.
Finally, with it's ostensibly unique capabilities, Martin Avenue serves
