Services
The City used a proposed multi-family private development as an opportunity to relocate and upgrade its municipal golf course operation. The project consists of a vehicle storage area, a vehicle maintenance area, a wash bay, and administrative employee areas. The site also includes covered material storage bins, an exterior wash out area for mowers, and a fueling island.
The new multi-level facility provides the city with approximately 129,900 square feet of space and consists of 33,730 square feet of maintenance/ mezzanine space and shops, 18,828 square feet of office space, and 76,025 square feet of vehicle storage space (35,520 of which was existing space which was renovated).
This building and site were chosen after years of looking for suitable sites. Edina has limited real estate available for such large projects, but the previous inhabitants operations were of a large enough scale that the existing buildings and site layout were reasonably cohesive with the Public Works plans.
The new City of Fridley Public Works facility is one building component of a larger realization of a city facility campus including their new city hall and public safety center, outdoor gathering space and large stormwater treatment area.

This ambitious project converts the site of a former well-known ice arena, the existing fire department training area and the existing public works facility into this set of civic facilities, as well as provide for developmental property for the already developed city.Working relationship between two architectural design firms for two separate buildings, with one project budget.
The site includes, as most of our projects do, a salt storage structure, a fueling island, storm water storage and bulk material storage and staging, as well as vehicle parking, state of the art vehicle maintenance and a service area. The office space is multi-purpose, and can also be used for staff functions and after-hours city uses, such as voting and city meetings.

Ourselves Architects are the best in the business for Public Works jobs. Their knowledge and experience, and how they work with Owners and General Contractors, is second to none. More personalized service than the big box Architects, better detailed drawings, and a willingness to work through ideas from the craft personnel themselves.
