Services
The couple bought a funeral home in Auburn California in the early 1920's and had two children, Jim and June. In 1929, Carl and Anita Mehl bought the building that is now Mehl's Colonial Chapel from Burland Brothers, a building that had once been a private residence. Many additions have been added to make it the structure that now graces East Lake Avenue.
At Mehl's Colonial Chapel, we take great pride in caring for our families, and will work tirelessly to provide you with a beautiful, lasting tribute to your loved one. In addition to the services we offer, you will receive an online memorial that you can share with family and friends. While honoring your loved one is our top priority, we also want to help you through this difficult time.
Many people are unaware of their options when planning a funeral service. We at Mehl's are here to inform you of your options and to help you decide what is best for you. Each family has its own special and unique ideas of funerals. Each religion has different funeral services. Most people now agree that whatever these differences in ideas, beliefs, and customes may be, all of us need some way in which to share our grief with those we love.
We are located in Watsonville, CA, at 222 East Lake Avenue, between Lincoln St. and Main St. Our parking lot is located behind the funeral home, off of Center Street. Highway 1 north, exit highway 129 Riverside Drive. Turn right off the exit onto Riverside Drive. Continue on Riverside Drive until you come to Main St. Turn left onto Main St. and follow it until you reach Beach St., turn right.
Our commitment to you does not end after the funeral. We are here to provide you with information needed to help you find the best aftercare source. Hospice Caring Project of Santa Cruz County offers many different types of support groups. They have a selection of bereavement recovery groups for adults.

My foster sister Cristal Ann Zamano had a viewing here and we were very unsatisfied when we showed up and she was in a hospital gown because her clothes no longer fit her. I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE CALLED US FOR A NEW OUTFIT . hopefully by posting this review it won’t happen again to another family. 🙏🏼

Just wanted to thank Evan & Amanda for helping my wife get thru one of the toughest day's that she's had to deal with in the passing of her MOM. They answered all her questions & help her with the obituary & death certificate. They took so much stress off her I highly recommend Mehl's they made us fill like part of their family. Thanks again Brian & Michelle

Compassionate, caring, understanding, offered every accommodation that could make us more comfortable, not a "sales" entity, but a service staff and organization to assist us in making our way as we waded through unknown territory. Warned us of pitfalls even. I can't say enough good things about the service provided. Thanks to Evan for his guidance. Should be a 10 Star
