Injuries are common while participating in organized sports, competitions, training exercises, or fitness activities. Poor training methods, lack of conditioning and inadequate warm-up, and are a few of the causes of sports injuries. Sports injuries have sidelined many athletes for games, seasons, and worse, careers.
It is very common for people with arthritis to have stiff joints. This is secondary to the cycle that occurs when they avoid movement because it is painful. By not moving the arthritic joint, the pain and stiffness actually get worse making it more difficult to get around.
People with arthritis often benefit from physical therapy, because we encourage increased movement of the joint by working out the stiffness and then focus to help build strength around the joint. The strengthening helps prevent further damage from occurring.

Unfortunately, at times a surgical intervention is needed to help get us back to a place of wellness. If and when that time comes we are here for you! We frequently develop pre-operative strengthening programs to maximize your outcomes after a Hip or knee replacement. It is best to begin 2-3 months prior to your scheduled surgery to achieve best results.
It is estimated that approximately 40% of the adult population will experience back or neck pain at some point in their life time. Injuries to the spine are the most common conditions we treat. And we have great news.most of these problems respond very well to Physical Therapy! Radiating pain, numbness and tingling into the legs or arms resulting from neck/back issues.
Ballet and dance rank up with football as some of the most physically demanding sports. Without proper balance of muscle strength and flexibility traumatic and repetitive injuries can occur. At Wissahickon Physical Therapy, we have therapists who can assist in injury prevention rehabilitation and wellness for the pre-professional dancer looking to make dance their career.

W.PT. has been my GO TO place for my sports injuries. The staff is outstanding, friendly and completely professional. Besides my in office treatment plan, I was given an at home plan of exercises to insure that the healing process was consistent.
I am more than happy to recommend them to my friends, and fellow athletes.
Once you try them, you will not have to go anyplace else.
I love it

I had a wonderful experience at wissahickon pt. Colleen and her staff were wonderful. I had gone to another local physical therapy center previously and had no pain relief. Within several months of switching to wissahickon, my knee pain was gone! The staff made my experience an enjoyable one and really catered my therapy to my needs.
