One of my earliest memories as a young boy growing up on Long Island was hanging out on warm summer days at the local lumber yard. Taking in the sights and smells of freshly cut lumber and daydreaming of building my first club house. I didn't know it then, but I would be planning and building for the better part of my life.
Working as a finished carpenter by day, at night I went to NYIT and graduated with a BS in Business Administration. I continued with NYIT in the evenings taking Architectural classes for the next year. In 1990, I started Dovetail Design mostly restoring old homes on the North Shore of Long Island. Today we offer a wide range of remodeling services involving all phases of residential construction.

The owner of Dovetail Design & Restoration, Ken Watral, and his talented crew of artisans, are above and beyond what u wud expect from any contractor.
He is a master builder, artist and perfectionist in the details of his work.There is literally nothing he can’t build, renovate or transform. He took my 100+ yr old little colonial in Locust Valley, NY and turned it into a spacious but cozy “home”.
His work focuses not only on simple & beautiful aesthetics but functionality as well, which was so important for my family of four.
When I sold my home only a few yrs later, the value had more

Dovetail Design and restoration was a pleasure to work with. Their years of experience was apparent from beginning to end. The craftsmanship they put into our project was truly appreciated.
