HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS or sometimes called rams are the primary consideration in hydraulic steering systems as they are where the action is! All the hydraulic force of the system is converted to linear motion as the cylinder extends and retracts, moving the sterndrive or outboard.

THE FULL POWER KIT supplies all the main components inside the boat to complete a full hydraulic power steering system, except the steering pump, cooler and hoses. This kit can convert a MERC ADD-ON KIT to full hydraulic, eliminating feedback to the wheel and backlash from steering cables.
Included in the kit is a helm with integral shock and pressure relief valves, 3 stainless mounting column with trim and sealing rings, remote reservoir tank, high pressure oil filter assembly, four special helm fittings, bolt-on cap for pump and installation instructions.LATHAM MARINE RESERVOIR TANKS are made with blue anodized aluminum ends and clear tubing for clear visibility of the system hydraulic oil.

OUTBOARD SIDEMOUNT CYLINDER KITS provide a superior method for steering large outboard engines. We manufacture a solid stainless steel side mount pin which replaces the hollow engine tilt tube. This bar provides a secure mount for our stainless sterndrive cylinder. The clevis joint on the piston rod attaches to a rear plate (sold separately) on the back of the engine.
AEROQUIP HOSE is the best choice for flexible hose in custom installations. We sell Aeroquip hydraulic hose in bulk lengths so you can cut it to the exact lengths needed for your boat. Then install reusable hose ends with appropriate mandrels. 2651-6 and 2651-8 hose are used for high pressure runs, and have a black rubber covering with wire braid reinforcement inside.
MERCURY VERADO SPACER KITS are designed to lower the propeller of a 30" shaft engine by 5" by stacking stock spacers, allowing the transom bracket to be installed higher than normal. The Latham supplied spacer with a bearing support built in is installed between the mid-section and the stock lower spacer and is easy to install as no machining is necessary.

They may be a leader in top quality marine items such as steering but their website leaves much to be desired. If parts are available good luck figuring out how to order them and they pretty much insist you send items in for repair but do not make it easy to contact them to do this. I don't care if they prefer it sent thru a dealer or marine center. Things like that would make me choose another manufacturer.
