I have been licensed with the Maine Board of Counseling Professionals since 1993 as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). In 1998, I opened my private practice, Riverview Counseling in Scarborough, Maine, overlooking the Scarborough Marsh.

Previously, I worked as an Expressive Therapist and a Group Clinician at The Portsmouth Women's Center for Mind/Body Wellness and Portsmouth Regional Hospital's inpatient psychiatric unit and partial hospitalization program for women with a history of trauma. My focus on grief and bereavement began in 2001 after being trained to be a hospice volunteer for the former Hospice of Maine.
Services
My hope is to provide a safe, supportive space for individuals, couples, and/or families. It takes courage to seek help when confronted with life challenges and I understand how intimidating it can be to come to counseling. I offer a free phone consultation to help you get a sense of my approach and to decide if you'd like to make an appointment.
Anyone can slay a dragon, he told me, but try waking up every morning and loving the world all over again. That's what takes a real hero. The path of grief after the death of someone close to us is a uniquely challenging life experience - one of the most difficult a person can face.

I have a special interest and training in supporting individuals and families after a traumatic loss-a loss that is experienced or perceived as frightening or overwhelming. My approach is based on a model that has received international recognition for its efficacy in the treatment of traumatic loss: Restorative Retelling (RR).
I provide consultation for mental health professionals seeking support related to grief counseling, self-care, and ways to integrate creative modalities into their work. I also provide supervision and guidance to students seeking licensure in Counseling and the Creative (Expressive) Arts Therapies.
I offer a free phone consultation to help you get a sense of my approach and to decide if you'd like to make an appointment. Please contact me at 207-883-7706.
