Great Bridge Child Care has two licensed daycare centers in Chesapeake, Virginia-but it's unlike any child care facility you've ever seen! But Great Bridge Child Care goes beyond offering excellent care and healthy meals. At both of our Chesapeake child care centers, experienced teachers use hands-on activities to teach children core academic skills that will help them excel in school and throughout life. Children also gain a familiarity with technology through interactive computer exercises and outside resource professionals brought in to teach.

It is with great pride that we offer our services to you and your family. Our original child care facility had a capacity for only 50 children. Within two years, Great Bridge Child Care expanded to be able to support 124 children serving the Great Bridge Primary school district.
Recognizing the growth of the Great Bridge area, in 1985 Karen Colston opened a second location on Fentress Road serving the Butts Road Primary school district, supporting another 137 children.We have remained a large and successful early childhood and after-school program for many years now, and are eager to connect with your family.

I sent my son to Great Bridge Child Care of Chesapeake VA from the age of two until he graduated. While he was there, I was amazed at the love and care that he received, and also by how much he grew (physically and emotionally) and how much he learned! It is difficult to leave your child and go back to work, but at GBCC, I wasn't leaving my son with strangers, it really felt like he was with family.

Our quality preschool uses the Early Foundations Preschool program, which enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and develop a love of lifelong learning. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children develop a variety of skills and knowledge in areas like early literacy, mathematics, science, and social skills.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, Value
Picked up my granddaughter today and was told she is a “safety” concern since she won’t take a nap, keep her socks on, and throws a temper tantrum so she is not allowed to return. So basically kicked out of pre-school for refusing to nap with no notice.

I enrolled my son here and he only stayed for about a month. I couldn’t believe some of the things I’d walk into when I arrived. The other kids were threatening my son in front of the teacher and she wouldn’t do anything about it. He was afraid to go. Then, the last straw was when I picked up one evening and him and another child were playing Legos and no one was with them. His teacher was across the hall, in another classroom, talking with another teacher. I had to search around to find her. My son was not with in sight and sound of his teacher which is a LICENSING VIOLATION. When I confronted

The only childcare company to offer a tuition free week for vacations after your first year. Also, when public schools are closed for most holidays, they’re open. (Minus Christmas, New Years, Labor Day and Memorial Day) This applies to “snow” days when Chesapeake Public Schools close before the snow even hits. They only close for snow when it’s actually bad. Also, the staff is nice and always supportive.
